Lava Death - the Loop of Frustration
The first time I played this game back in 2014, I had this exact same problem. Now it's 2019 and it's STILL not fixed. I have characters who inexplicably walk into lava by themselves during long, difficult combat sequences and when I resurrect them - they just instantly die again because they're still in the lava. You CANNOT teleport them out and their corpse stays in the lava even if you rift travel to a waypoint. There is no simply way to save a character who has died in lava and I feel that's just plain stupid. Has anyone ever come up with a work around for this as apparently Larian never got around to fixing it? Maybe they could fix it by not having characters blunder into lava while moving in the first place?

you click on the ressurect spell, you click on the gravestone, you click on the destination to raise them at, you don't raise them on the lava unless you are an idiot.

It won't let me select the gravestone. It says invalid target or something like that... probably because it's in lava.

If targeting a gravestone does not work, try the character portrait.

Resurrect is a teleport type spell, you first choose the target to resurrect (teleport) and with the second click you choose *where* to resurrect the dead party member, i.e. the teleport target location.
The game will not let you choose lava as the target location.

Same thing happens when I target the portrait. Invalid Target. This only happens when they die on lava. Oh well. I'll just go back to an earlier save when this happens.

Could be a graphics bug. Potentially, a newer (or older) graphics driver could help.
(Not saying that the driver has a bug, could be the game too that does not work well with a certain driver. My personal opinion is that the Enhanced Edition is not nearly as stable with DX11 as Classic was with DX9.)

Unless Larian's Raze or someone who had the same problem shows up here, it might be best to ask in Larian's forum.

I double checked, and had no problem targeting dead party members in lava, from the tombstone or portrait.
If one character linked to the dead one uses a teleporter pyramid to teleport to the other (on the ground or in a different party member's inventory) that should move the tomebstone, as well.

Try verifying local files: in the Steam library, right click on the game and select Properties, switch to the Local Files tab and then click on the 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache...' button.

If that doesn't help, and you run into this issue again, you can email supportdos@larian.com with your save (or a Dropbox or Google drive link, etc). If you are using any mods, also include a list of those enabled and/or the modsettings.lsx from your profile folder.
Each save is a folder in the '..\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition\PlayerProfiles\<ProfileName>\Savegames_patch' folder.
In Windows Explorer you can zip a file or folder by right clicking on it/them and selecting 'Send To | Compressed (zipped) Folder' (and similarly in OSX/Finder).
