That is the directory for the save games and profiles. Have you moved the documents folder to another drive? If not, you can create the folder yourself and then try starting the game. Just create a new folder called "Larian Studios" in your documents folder.

nope its always been on C drive also I have tried this and it did not work still get the same problem

and IMO its kinda weird since all other games work just fine without this problem

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game?
In particular, a few people have had BitDefender block the game from being able to create files and folders. In that case, including the game executable and Larian Studios My Documents folder in BitDefender's trusted app and directory section will fix the problem.

Try exiting out of the Steam client completely, and starting the game directly from the '..\SteamApps\common\Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition\Shipping\EoCApp.exe' program file, by right clicking and running as administrator.

Try creating a new Windows administrator user account, switch to that and try starting the game from the executable.

I fixed this issue today for me....

It is related to Windows Defender "Controlled Folder Access: settings. If you open Windows Defender, click on "Virus & Threat Detection" then click on "Virus & Threat Detection Settings" and scroll down to "Controlled Folder Access" you can turn it off. Alternately, you can click on "Allow an App through controlled folder access" and then browse to the '..\SteamApps\common\Divinity Original Sin 2\Bin\EoCApp.exe' program file and exclude it from the restriction.

I've only played 1 campaign, I'm 88 hours in. All of a sudden my game starts doing this and I can no longer play. Save files were all randomly deleted. This is the only game that wont work on my PC all of a sudden. Worked fine for nearly 90 hours.

I tried every option here, even went as far as reinstalling the game and when that didn't work, I reinstalled windows. Nothing worked. GG.
