How's the online co-op?
I am thinking about buying a copy of this for myself and a friend, and the main selling point for me/us is online co-op. I should note we also have our eyes on Divinity: OGS 2 as that also seems to feature online co-op and, I imagine, all the progress that comes from learning from it's predecessors. I guess my main questions are, how are y'all enjoying the online co-op and how has your experience been with it? Any reason to pass over Original Sin Enhanced edition and hold out for Divinity 2 (once I can afford it for my friend and I)? I know it's a lot to ask, but I don't mind at all if anyone wants to really go in on some in-depth impressions!

Thank you for any and all thoughts!

Online Co-op is incredible, I would go so far as to say it's one of THE major selling points for D:OS period, but that's me.

I can't say much on D:OS v. D:OS2 as I have not touched the second game. I own it, but I have no interest in playing just one act, none at all.

I would go into detail but I'm busy, sorry!

Thank you for your reply! It has definitely helped me in my (eventual) pruchase!

the game itself is great; but with online co-op, it is even better. I have played three week long co-op games with random people I met here on steam and we had a blast. and I am in the middle of another one with a good friend, who started the game some months ago.
It is highly enjoyable and definitly one of the strongest features the game has to offer.
the 2nd game has exactly the same feature, but it is in early access, so you can only play the first act atm. but with game master mode coming around in a few weeks, the 2nd part will have another great multiplayer feature available, which will make the EA - experience still worthwile in my opinion.

I have a question for you does the online coop require both players to play with a single players characters and what I mean by that is if my friend buys the game can he play as his characters and I play as my characters and we come together in one specific campaign? I hope that makes sense the whole point is that the only way my friend will purchase the game is if he can join my game with his creative characters and continue to gain progress for his own game.

That would be very cool and it's a commonly-requested feature for this game and also DOS 2 (which doesn't have it either), but...

No, there is no possible way to do that.

The characters in the game are always the ones that are present in the host's save file. Characters from other games can never be imported into that.

The next-best thing that is the closest available option to what you are asking for is this: you can both join the same coop game starting right at the character creation screen, and then each create your own characters at that point.

Of course, that wouldn't give you what you are asking for, other than in terms of you'd both have created your own characters.
