Tales Of Symphonia free when pre-ordering TOZ...but no so free
I pre-ordered Tales of Zestiria and it said that I should have Tales of symphonia gratis thanks to this but Steam says that I have to pay to have it...

Besides, my pre-order items for TOZ have disappeared from my steam library but I still have them in the game...odd.

Does someone have the same issue ?

Did you preorder ToZ directly through Steam and not through another vendor (eg. Humble Bundle, Green Man Gaming)?

I remember seeing there was another Steam user who preordered ToZ outside Steam and as a result, didn't get ToS for free.

Yep I pre-order TOZ from ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. But I did have the pre-order items, and when I added the game on Steam, Steam recognized the game as a pre-order. That's why I don't understand why my pre-order items disappeared from my library and why tales of symphonia is not free for me.

This was the pre order tier rewards back then

"*Rewards will be backfilled once we reach the next level.
**Tier rewards may not be granted immediately after reaching the goal.
***Tales of Symphonia will be added to your Steam library automatically once available on Steam.
****Only purchases of Tales of Zestiria on Steam count towards the Pre-Purchase Rewards."

Yep but I had the other "Pre-Purchase Rewards"...but not anymore. They changed their mind or what ?

Sorry but the ToS pre-order reward was for Steam store purchases only. As for the pre-purchase rewards, I think you should ask a customer rep about that.

Probably because you went ot get the game at a cheaper price from another one of those grey market cd key sites that don't contribute to the sales of the developer and publisher. Are you really expecting to get all the bonuses if you didn't buy it directly from steam? I'm pretty sure that's only offered in the first place to get you buy the game for the retail price on steam over anywhere else...

All pre-order bonuses are applied ONLY if you buy from steam directly if you buy from anywhere else you can't get those bonuses.

Unless third party site specify that you will get same bonuses like on steam the chance is you won't get them.

Third party does sell pre-order keys but usually without pre-order rewards.

What?
The vast majority of websites that sell their own keys got them from the publisher, and they are definitely legit.

The "grey market" sites are those that don't sell their own keys, but offer a platform (marketplace) for other people to sell their keys, such as G2A and Kinguin. These are the ones to avoid.

However, as other users have already stated, the pre-purchase rewards only applied to purchases made on Steam only. They didn't remove anything you didn't have before either - they can't do that.

I understand but the website where I bought the game says that we can have the the bonuses. So I sent them a message and they have answered me that I have to ask Steam because it's a technical issue, what I did yesterday. I'm waiting for an answer.

Pre-order bonuses for Tales of Zestiria such as Cameo Costumes and Weapons were given to all pre-orderers regardless where they pre-ordered it from. I don't know why your pre-order items have suddenly disappeared, at least they should still be there according to SteamDB. Perhaps you should contact "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" about it. You should always do research if a key reseller is authorized.

Tales of Symphonia is only free to those who pre-ordered Tales of Zestiria from Steam Store.
From SteamDB[steamdb.info], you can see what packages are applied to different keys:
Pre-order: Steam Store[steamdb.info]
Pre-order: Non-Steam Store (GMG etc.)[steamdb.info]
Pre-order: Russian version (Non-Steam Store)[steamdb.info]
Pre-order: Asian version (Non-Steam Store)[steamdb.info]

Also, can you please report what DLC (if any) you see for Tales of Zestiria?
1. Go to your games Library on Steam.
2. Right-click on Tales of Zestiria and choose: Properties
3. Click on the DLC -tab.

As you can see, on the Store I have to buy it. It doesn't consider that I have pre-order items. And in my Library, you can see that these items are installed. It's odd but not a big deal right now. I'm more concerned about Tales of Symphonia if I can have it or not.

Oh that, see here for an in-depth answer:

TL;DR: You own the pre-order items which came with different apps, but you don't own the app on the store (which contains them all). The packages are all the same, though.

Okay thanks for the info !

Yes you're right, it looks like ToS is not included in the key I bought. Too bad for me, it wasn't specified that I would not have the game by pre-ordering on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Thank you for helping me.
