EDIT: Its a Japanese word game called Shiritori and it works the same with Japanese writing as it does English words (using the last kana of a Japanese word or the last letter of an English one) Read about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shiritori

Edit: Looks like I was beaten to the explaination. Took me a while to post after reseraching my Japanese textbook.

Ah, I should have figured it was a Japanese word game, thanks for the help. I tried switching my characters but they give the same responses as Lloyd. I've only released the fire and water seals, was on my way to Asgard before I found this and had to find out what it was about.
I'll have to remember that, maybe later in the game they'll have some different dialogue, I'll have to check.
