I could only really recommend whoever you like playing as and Raine. The others are mostly up to preference.

You don't necessarily need Raine, but she really helps a lot. Kratos is also pretty good early game as a secondary healer because the basic healing spell isn't affected by spell queue, but later on, you don't really need a secondary healer.

That said, Raine and Genis should never be in the party at the same time due to the spell queue system. The game does not allow more than 1 mid/high tier spell at the same time for the player party or the enemies, so it's limited to 2 of those at once, one from each side. This wouldn't be as much of a problem if the characters actually still had the spell charge up time counted and could cast immediately after the other spell is done. It doesn't though, which means that they still have to wait even longer to cast, so Raine and Genis really interfere with each other, and this can easily get you killed if you needed a heal.

The spell queue issue also applies to any other characters with mid/high spells. However, the others actually can fight physically as well as having some basic spells, so it's not as important as this.

Oh, ty very much, I had no idea about this spell queue.
Well I guess Im gonna play with Lloyd Kratos Raine Sheena ? I feel like Colette is kinda useless xD

I definitely would have used Raine and Genis in the same party on PS3 if it weren't for this limitation in the game that's in all versions. Genis has some pretty powerful spells if you boost up his Int.

Colette definitely gets more useful over time once you can do spell canceling with her as well as get some of her better artes. People tend to think they removed spell canceling in the PS2/PS3/this version, but they changed it so that you can more effectively do it as you up the useage instead of how you could do it from the start on GameCube(this has never been a glitch and spell cancelling is in pretty much nearly every Tales game). I'm not sure what the exact useage amount needed is before you can effectively use it to combo, but it's definitely not max useage(though max useage does help still).

My favorite combo was always Lloyd Genis Raine Kratos/Zelos. Replacing Kratos with Sheena or Collete whenever Kratos is awol for whatever reason. When you get sync skills(I cant remember the exact name) and Genis gets a T3 skill, using any T3 skill +Raine's Ray will result in a high hit combo powerful combo that does light damage, it really helps against anything not based around light damage if you dont like to use Collete.

There will be a time very soon in which you change your mind.

When I was in college, my roommate and I played through ToS. We had both played it before and had decided we would each play a completely new character that we had never tired before. He stuck with Sheena, is the character roster really much of a spoiler? I mean they all have trading cards. and I got Colette.

So what Colette is really useful for: Thief. Thief is one of those things that people seem to either love or hate. For us, it really helped our gald situation since we didn't like to grind very much and it made our shopping trips in town much less painful. Her para-ball line of techs can also put out some really nice damage. She functions best I think as a mid-range bomber, at least that's how I played her. Since her attacks are all pretty slow you really can't afford to be close enough that you don't have the time to dodge. I think her best plus though is that later in the game she gets probably the best buff in the game. I can't remember exactly when, but I know you don't have it yet. Her angel skills in general are pretty powerful. I don't think she's as powerful a field wiper as Genis eventually becomes, but it's easier for her to maintain her TP since she doesn't have to get right up in someone's face with that wimpy kendama to hit them with physical attacks.

She's also the only character I know of that can solo the most powerful secret boss in the game at level 4. (Seriously, the video exists.)

Your team in general is really up to you. None of the characters are significantly more powerful than the others to the point where there's a definite "best party." Each character has a different playstyle and that's something you should be aware of if you want to create some synergies or have a balanced selection of roles in the party. Heck is vastly different depending on who's going T and who's going S. Personally, I like to usually use Raine for healing and support, usually Colette for holy song, then the last two are whatever frontline brusiers I feel like at the time.

You'd be surprised at the diversity people can use. The characters I use the most in order are: Regal, Presea, Kratos/Zelos, Raine, Lloyd, Colette, Sheena and Genis (which is funny since Genis is my favorite character and the one that inspired my email.

You forgot about Presea. Her EX skill that gives her a ridiculous power-up when she's the only one alive allows her to literally one-shot the last Sword Dancer on Mania.
