Save Editing

So, I'm lazy and cheap. I'm trying to go through the game's files and figure out how to edit the number of EX Gem Maxes so I can start revealing the Hidden EX Skills.

The most obvious looking thing is
C:/Program Files(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Tales Of Symphonia/P12E/Data/TOS_Server/Archive/Release/R01/Win/TLFILE.DAT

but I don't think I know how or where to edit it. It's too big for Microsoft Word or Wordpad to handle and I don't know if there's anything on my computer that would appreciate looking at a... Gigabyte sized file?

you can do as rester said before with gald, using cheat engine and find where is the affection with kratos, when you change it (I only do the 6th step one cheat engine tutorial, so I'm not very good, I'm not sure)

Sorry for my bad english, but If someone want to avoid the annoying ymir forest dungeon I suggest this:
With an hex editor see the values on the entry f40 07
In this entry add 1 to the value you see (In my case is F8, I guess it depends if you go first to the lazareno company or not) and set to 01 the entry 131C (ymir fruit item).

Ta dah, the annoying children get the fruit and you can go in heimdall without an headache :-)

Is there any way to edit who is in your party? Eg: Having both Kratos and Zelos?

With this I almost wonder if there's any way to extract data from my Gamecube save of Symphonia and inject bits of that into the PC save.

I don't know how to edit the collector's book with HxD, but I do know that you can get all but a handful of items in a single run if you plan ahead. I also know you can hex-edit in items directly into your inventory but I don't believe it adds them to the collector's book when you do so.

So, I'm figuring it out and I'm mapping how to do it with HxD! I'm trying to "convert" my first run through the gamecube version into the PC version because even if this takes a litlte bit to figure out, it's faster than playing through the whole thing the way I did the first time ;) I'll likely throw up my first guide for it at some point in the next few weeks. (And likely the same with titles/costumes/etc. too)

There are things missing from the gamecube version that are present in the PS3/PC version. You midt be better off just downloading someone else's save.

I know they are, I'd just be giving myself whatever I got the last time. I'm actually about to throw up a guide now, I mapped out the general hex offsets.

I was hoping to figure out which offsets relate to which titles... For the collector's book it was a convenient 1/2/4/8 (in decimal, so 0-F) for each 4 bytes, depending on the combination in which you add it up. I guess it'll take some random tinkering for me to figure this out...

I have a software called HxD, and I'm confused on how to get the items in my inventory. I don't know how the chart is supposed to help me. Anyone wanna help me out?

Try looking up a hex editor. It's way easier.
