Tales of Symphonia - Patch Notes (April 27th, 2016)

Hello Tales of Symphonia players! A new update is going live featuring a handful of fixes. See below for the full list. And thank you again for your support of Tales of Symphonia!

  • Remote Island Ranch did not allow players using Genis to successfully activate the sorcerers ring to change directions during the cart puzzle.
  • Fixed crash at Welgaia when receiving the Chipped Dagger.
  • Fixed game becoming unresponsive if game pad was unplugged during movement.
  • Audio will now save based on the last save slot loaded.
  • Sound Test should now be present on the main menu at all times if the last game a player loaded was NG+
  • Blurriness double checked to ensure there were no left over instances of FXAA. Post texture shaders were updated from linear, back to point.
  • Updated credits.
  • Various localization and corrupt text fixes throughout the game.

Tales of Symphonia - Patch Notes (February 29th, 2016)

We have a new update for Tales of Symphonia. See below for fixes:

Save / Load
  • If you have a previous save game, the game will now default to selecting the “Load” option on the main menu.
  • In the Load menu, your last saved slot should be selected.
PS3 Trigger Button Icons
  • The Katz minigame in Izlood should now be displaying the proper trigger buttons.

Tales of Symphonia - Patch Notes (February 22nd, 2016)

There's a new update available for Tales of Symphonia including the following fixes:

Device Stability & Optimization
  • Alt + Tab from the full screen mode should now work as expected.
  • The 4-10 second delay when launching the game, switching resolution, and toggling full screen should no longer occur.
Multiple Instances
  • Players should no longer be able to launch multiple instances of the game through the TOS.exe in the games folder.
Touch Screen Devices
  • Game client should no longer crash after 15 minutes on touch screen devices
Save / Load
  • Star icons should now appear on New Game+ save slots

Tales of Symphonia - Patch Notes (February 12th, 2016)
Hello everyone! Thank you for your patience. Please see below for the latest Tales of Symphonia patch notes.

Features
  • Increased the number of save slots to 100.
Bug Fixes

Crashes
  • Disabled portrait mode option to avoid crashing. (This should help tablet-style PCs)
Localization
  • Additional alignment adjustments for Keyboard Controls custom menu
  • Alignment fixes for Save/Load/Overwrite prompt windows
  • Fixed the save game prompt that would show as “&d” in Italian instead of the proper save slot number.
Interface
  • Replaced legacy button icons with the correct current button icon style.
Customize Menu
  • Controller “Start” button mislabeled as “Select”
  • Restoring Default Keyboard will no longer bind keys to the Numpad.

NOTE: AVG anti-virus false positive issue was resolved earlier this week.

Hello everyone - Please see below for the latest patch notes. We definitely appreciate the feedback and are continuing to monitor these forums. Thank you for the support!

Bug Fixes
Controller Button Icons
  • Addressed inconsistencies with legacy controller icons still showing up.
Achievements
  • “Zelos Harem Master” legacy typo fixed in all languages.
Mouse Support
  • Mouse Cursor icon hidden when in game
Localization
Menu Localization
  • Spanish & Italian switched in some menu options is now fixed.
  • Previously missing Save & Load menu options are now localized with their corresponding prompts
  • Exit Game menu option localization implemented
  • Text alignment polish on Exit Game prompts
  • Abbreviated some of the longer words in Keyboard Controls to avoid clipping with button textures.
Additional Notes
  • Some alignment and spacing issues still occur. Currently addressing.
  • We are also actively working on resolving the false-positive with AVG software. We'll keep you updated with any further progress here on the Community Hub.

We thank you once again for your patience and understanding regarding the technical issues experienced with Tales of Symphonia. Our team was able to resolve the technical issues shown below.

Bug Fixes
  • Added VC++2013 redist to the installer config.
  • Launching the game should allow this to install properly.
  • Log File Writing error
  • The game will no longer attempt to write to the C: drive.
  • Save & Customize Menu delay (Windows 7)
  • The save and customize menu should no longer delay 10 – 40 seconds upon opening.
Localization
  • Implemented various localization fixes to the menu
  • Relocated localization file
  • No longer editable
  • We will continue to remain diligent regarding technical issues and greatly appreciate your feedback.

Major / Performance issues
  • The presence of anti-tamperware.
  • Long startup time (caused by the above).
  • Crashes such as sec60A6.tmp and secEE6E.tmp (caused by the above).
  • Continued creation of files to locations on the C:/ drive (caused by the above).
  • Crashes after 10-20 minutes (caused by touchscreen drivers...?).
  • Crashes when alt-tabbing.

Translation / Porting issues
  • Numerous issues with unformatted or missing text lines.
  • Numerous issues with French, Italian and Spanish languages.
  • Occasional English audio with Japanese audio selected.
  • Persistent mistranslations from the PS3 release e.g. Holy Binds.
  • New typos introduced to the PC release e.g. Battle Contorols.
  • Steam Badge: Zelos is called Mithos.
  • Absurdly few save slots. Patched 2/12/16
  • Persistent PS3 button prompts.

Majorly Needed Quality Improvements
  • Restore the frame rate back to the original 60 FPS.
  • Internal resolution rework.
  • Anti-aliasing / anisotropic filtering / blur.
  • Classic (Gamecube) cel-shading.
  • Fullscreen options (inc. borderless window).
  • Configurable options for all of the above.
  • Key binding options.

Good step forward. But frankly, adding to what has been said several times now (for good reason), this really should be 1080p and 60fps. My two bits, thank you for the continued updates

Can confirm the game no loger writes to C:\TL though it does put the .tmp file in a different location which is deleted after the game is closed.
Hey devs, maybe you should listen to the fans about removing the DRM, sound good!? :D No? Okay then, not buying.

Baby steps guys. At least my biggest grip is now fixed (save/config delay).

Baby steps are all well and good, but they'd better get to removing the bigger issues.

I said it in the previous thread, as long as it has DRM outside of steamworks, i don't care what you do to the game, i won't play it, or any game made by bamco, due to it.

Seems like all you did was hide the DRM better, fair enough, you don't want perspective customers to know it has DRM and refund it after all.

Denovu DRM can burn for all I care, people who use it in their games deserve no respect.

This isn't a sufficient baby step for me. Do you know what kind of baby steps I want instead?

Zombies ate my neighbors baby steps. Yes I mean level 8. At least launching the game isn't an absolute chore now but alt tabbing if you use fullscreen is... it's terrible. The delay.

Confirming not getting the delay anymore. Excellent.

That leaves the arbitrary resolution support then. Edit: Look at how Durante did it for clues

Also dump VMprotect, the game has been pirated to oblivion since the GC days, and this version was already cracked, it's just insulting at this point (and it's known to cause performance issues on lower level PCs.)
