There are a couple very specific fixes you can use, such as the quiet audio fix, TSFix, a mod that plays japanese voices over skits so it isn't just complete silence, and I think there's a guide on fixing the Zelos Steam achievement bug. All of these are in the guides section if you scroll through it.
That's all I've come across after years of being subscribed to this forum unfortunately.
The one really bad example he previewed in the video at 8:02 with Raine, that's only going to happen if she is your highest affection I believe, so most players wont even come across it. There really isn't that many of these immersion breaking moments, at least.
It's a complicated and multi-faceted issue that would be a bit of work to fix. The reason it happens is because the original Gamecube localization had to add more textboxes to accommodate the English text which generally doesn't compact as nicely as Japanese text does. Where the split textbox was voiced, there are naturally two voice clips for the English as well. Further confounding this is that there are actually more voiced story lines in the localization compared to the Japanese version because they made use of the extra disc space they had from skipping out on voicing the skits. All of this wasn't properly accommodated for when the PS3 version was localized so certain scenes like this get jumbled because the game is looking for textboxes and voice clips based on where they are in the Japanese version.
Would you say this detracts from the game all that much? I want my experience with ToS to be the best possible, so if you think the skipped dialogue and this moment are that important then I think I'll just stick to the GC version
Honestly, GC for your first playthrough might be worth it given your fear of immersion breaking. Aifread bringing up that moment reminded me how I would have been pretty upset if it was my first playthrough. You could switch over to this version after a GC playthrough since you'd only really have the NG+ content to get to afterwords.
And is the texture quality also the PS2 version, or they used the GC`s textures for this...
Sort of odd that the people who control Namco, arnt fans of their own games....
