Seems like I'll have to walk around Iselia for another 2-3h...
Bacura is frequently found on the road near the SE Abbey. Getting an encounter on that road is hard enough, but you still have to deal 255 hits to kill the thing at all (not to mention it can run away).
AFAIK, 10 Grade are only possible in boss fights but not against the smaller monsters around Iselia. If I'm wrong, please tell me where/how to get that much.
Other than the bonuses for winning quickly and having full HP/TP, most Grade earned in a battle is based on number of hits dealt and combo bonuses. In order to get more hits in a battle, you would have to fight in a longer battle, and, thus, you lose the speed bonus, and would have to make up the difference. So, yes, 10/20 Grade is only realistic for boss battles.
This should explain why you get lots of Grade against Bacura: the entire battle is based on scoring lots of hits, and it can't fight back, so you can't possibly lose Grade (unless you use an item for some reason). Those fights are way slower, though, so that's why it's best to grind near the beginning of the game.
