Genis Fastest Casting?
Getting so confused by this. I'm trying to get faster spellcasting as Genis. Equipped Mystic Symbol on Genis. Set EX Skills to Speed Cast, Spell Save, Rhythm and Spell Charge (for Concentrate). Don't really want spell charge, but need it for Concentrate...
ANYWAY...
Rhythm skill says it decreases casting time by rapidly pressing Y.
Well okay. I tried that, but didn't notice any difference in cast time.
When I'm in battle the icon next to Genis's face depicts the Square button from the Playstation controller layout (lazy failures didn't bother to convert that)... but unless I'm mistaken, the Square button on the PS controller is where the X button is on a Microsoft pad.
SO I've tried rapidly pressing X instead. Again... no visible difference to cast time.

So does Rhythm not stack with Speed Cast and / or the Mystic Symbol?

In fact even hammering both X and Y rapidly during combat only seems to result in accidentally using Spell Charge and then having to attack manually to fire the spell... Stupid nuisance.

I miss how quickly I could fire off spells in Tales of Vesperia's endgame. Rita's epic "Bla bla bla TIDAL WAVE" routine was so awesome... Compared to that, Genis pratting about with his kendama takes ages to cast even the most rudimentary spells...

Are you sure it was Rapidly pressing "Y"? If not mistaken, it should be rapidly pressing "A" to reduce cast time, which is the "Cross" button on PS controller.

It definitely said Y. It said Y and the Square button was indicated in-battle... so I guess it wouldn't be unusual for it to be A.

Also I'm wondering if it might be that it was a T-type EX Skill and I was trying to use it with S-type spells...

[Edit]: Ah no. Couldn't be A. A is for changing targets. It just makes a lot of noise and changes targets repeatedly if I try to mash it.

The types on EX Skills don't work that way. The only thing they influence is pushing your character's type one way or the other

Did you altered default keybinding before? Maybe reset them to default may help? The fact that pressing A would change targets baffles me as I have never encountered this situation before. (but it has been quite a while since I played so I may be wrong)
