Sage and Savory Farming

So I've been trying to farm Sage's and Savorys from the Temple of Darkness basement but not even one Sage or Savory has dropped. When I played this on PC when I first got it many months ago I'd get maybe 10 herbs in about an hour of ToD farming. I farmed the basement the other night for well over two hours and I didn't get a single sage or savory.

Just wondering if they nerfed the droprate? Do I have to progress the story more until they'll start to drop? Or was I just having horrible luck? Thanks.

You could likely be having horrible luck. Have you been trying Item Rover/Item Thief with Colette, using the EX Gem set up:

1: Sharp-eyed
2: Magical
3: Lucky
4: Stat Boost

This, after a few battles, should net you the Compound EX Skill: Item Getter.

This boosts the chances of stealing items with Item Thief/Item Rover to 100% chance. So I think you could steal Sage and Savory from Temple of Darkness enemies using this.

I do have Item Finder on Collette but Sage's and Savory's are both drops from Coffinmasters and Druids not stolen items though. Still shows '???????' in my Monster Book under their drops, while stolen items have been found.

Not 100% sure, but that seems like something that might be affected by the luck stat. That resets every time you stay the night somewhere, so you can keep staying at Colette's house for free until you can make a party with really high luck. Could just depend on your main party member though. Eqiuipping things like Rabbit's feet would help too.

Yea I would keep staying at an Inn before farming to get a high luck roll. Not sure if I was just having really bad luck but I pushed the story a bit (released the light seal) and the sages+savorys started dropping. Got six in just over an hour of farming instead of none in 2+ hours, so I'm not sure if it was story related or I was having some horrible luck.

You can't steal herbs in Symphonia, another place you can get RED sages and RED savourys is in the Torrent Forest but that is much later in the story.
