Linkite Tree - help!

So I'm at the part in the game where I have to revive the tree to meet Aska, but when I interact with the tree, it says that I need an exsphere shard. But the thing is, I already have an exsphere shard in my inventory. I searched around to make sure that I have everything I need, and that I did everything that I needed to do. I have the unicorn's horn, met with the people at Nova Caravan and got the linkite nut, had it made into the linkite ocarina, got Boltzman's book for Raine to have the healing arts, and made a summon pact with all the summon spirits available so far besides Luna (including the one from the Tower of Darkness). I've finished the Remote Island Human Ranch too. I tried talking to Dirk to see if him giving me an exsphere shard would work, but he didn't give me one.

What am I missing here?

Have you tried talking to Tabatha/Altessa again? That part of the game has so much going on at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if it just wants you to complete some random sidequest you started before continuing the main story.

This might be a stupid question but, is everyone in your party right now?

And just to double check, make sure sheena has all of the summon spirit abilities. It's possible you missed one. You're 100% certain you've made a pact with: Undine, Efreet, Sylph, Celcius, Volt, Gnome, and Shadow?

Okay, so I tried talking to Tabatha and Altessa, but that yielded no results. I also do have everyone in my party, minus Kratos (or do I need him in my party too?). I checked Sheena's techs and she's got all of the summons (fire, water, wind, earth, ice, lightning, and darkness).

You definitely don't need Kratos haha. I'm not sure, that's really strange. There is a sidequest where you visit

-Meltokio
-Sybak
-Ozette
-Altamira
-Altessa's House
-Mizuho

So that Zelos, Presea, Regal, and Sheena can say goodbye in case the worlds split after the final summon spirit, but it's supposed to be optional.

I hope for your sanity this isn't some strange unfixable glitch.

The only other thing I can think of is return to the areas of each event over again and talk to everyone just to see if you missed something the first time.

Here's a quick rundown of what I would try:

-Visit Nova again near Hakonesia peak, make him read the dialoge back to you and talk to everyone again
-Visit Dirk/Altessa & Tabatha again (you did this already)
-Visit Luna at the top of the Tower of Mana
And finally maybe visit each altar of each summon spirit again, but I REALLY understand if you don't want to do this one.

Hmm, I went back and tried everything that you suggested to me (even going back through all the temples) and I still can't progress...I want to cry. I Until I find some way to overcome this weird problem, I guess I'll have to set this game aside.

No problem, I can think of a few other things but I don't know if they're even worth trying because I can't remember the order of events too clearly. The last thing I can think of, is going back to palmacosta to talk to Mithos and Neil (if they're even still there) and saving Pietro in Hima if you haven't already.
