Need Help (Newbie): Can't seem to control Genis
I just started playing and am somewhat familiar with being able to set characters to manual, semi-auto, and auto. I have no problem controlling either Lloyd or Collette, but when I set Genis to manual or semi-auto (and other two characters to Auto), I cannot get Genis to do ANYTHING in combat. I can't get him to move, or cast a spell. The only button that responds on my controller is "Y", which brings up the little button bar with options like Tech, Item, Escape...

Like I said, with Collette or Lloyd, I can get them to move, block, attack, and use their skills.

Anyone have any idea? I see that Genis has two spells learned, but like i said, he literally just stands there in combat. I can't even get him to block. Any suggestions?

Set his ai to use tech or magic than keep him on auto

You cannot switch characters just by changing the settings. Actually, you don't need to change any of those.

To control him, you just have to arrange the character you want to use into the FIRST SLOT in the menu. Just set the character in the first slot to manual/semi, and others to auto. And just arrange the order of the characters if want to switch next time, the first slot will be P1, second slot will be P2, third slot will be P3 etc. (If you have more controllers)

no need to modify anything else

Switching the character order worked! Thank you so much!

This will be also good to know. In battle the character you controller can give orders which are Guard, Reserve, All out, or Cancel. I've noticed that when I choose go All out, any stragety I had set before hand is ignored. I'm not too sure what each order does, but I like to belive all out means go super crazy to kill the monsters. Though the computers auto of All out I believe is not as good as manunally setting things.

Been a while since I've played ToS, but I know it really well. I've played through the game a good 5+ times. Anyway just bear with me.

I choose All out with Support set on Raine and she won't cast the spells to give the team attack up and defense.

Just try it. Put the characters on "hold position" and then choose a command. They should start running around.

Anyway hope this helps.
