The technology is called Crossplay and is supported immediately upon launch. As a Steam user when you first launch, you'll be asked if you want to enable Crossplay. Just say "yes" and you're good to go.
1. Can we crossplay with switch too?
2. I've played barony a long time ago and recently played it again after hearing it'll goes free on epic, is there any way to check if we already enabled crossplay?
3. If we want to do crossplay, should we use direct IP hosting or can it be done with steamwork hosting?
Thank you for the answers
1. There's no Switch version until we have a successful Kickstarter! That said, it is likely that Crossplay would be a stretch goal, as currently our schedule for Switch work doesn't include online multiplayer (local and split-screen only for the basic release plan). So please do what you can to help support the Kickstarter if you are really excited about this feature! (Share share share with your friends!)
2. Don't worry, you'll be prompted to enable crossplay when the update goes live in just a little bit. That said if you want to check to see if it's enabled, you can always go to the Misc tab and it'll be there on the bottom left labeled "Enable Crossplay".
3. You can either use Steamworks or Crossplay services for multiplayer (one or the other). Direct IP is only if you want to do things manually with no online service helping you. For clarity: Crossplay lobbies are accessible by both Steam and EGS copies of the game. That's how the cross-platform multiplayer operates.
I hope I answered your questions!

According to Epic Online Services, they fully support Linux. It's stated very clearly. https://dev.epicgames.com/en-US/services
It's only the Epic Store itself that does not support Linux.
