[Tips and Strategy] Automaton Boiler

I'm having a rough time keeping the automaton's boiler going, even as the mechanist. Usually by stage 3, I'm just piling on all the scrap, scrolls, and books I can find to keep that darn thing warm.

Anyone got tips beyond getting it to say the flame is stable?

Get it to 'stable' using a weak fuel, then try adding a strong fuel! This will start overcharge!

Something to note is that the boiler can be empty for a very VERY long time before you start to degrade - so it's not necessary to keep noshing on decrepit gear chips every 3 seconds... just every 6 seconds :V

I'll have to play with both of those methods. Maybe I'm just attempting to play too safe, as the mechanist tends to die in two hits. Thanks for the input!

Even though I think it says it in the description, I completely forgot to eat the gems. Those things are everywhere!

I know I'm a bit late to this thread, but a good strategy is to eat junk parts until your boiler is burning steady, and then eat a scroll/book to overcharge it.

Alternatively, if you have extra polymorph potions, you can drink one to turn into a human, gorge on human food until you're "bursting" and then drink some water to dispel the polymorph. When you turn back into an automaton, you'll be overcharged for a *long* time. Polymorph potions aren't too useful for an automaton anyway, since you're already friendly to humans, unlike all other "monster" races.

Also, you can REALLY let the boiler run dry unless you are playing rather magically focused. You don't start to perish until both your boiler and your Heat are empty
