You do realize that historically speaking, the romans were said to have encountered blue painted warriors when they invaded Briton. By most accounts, the ancient Britons did paint their bodies with dye from the Woad plant, which is definitely a blue color.

So it wasn't really 'ripped off' from anything in particular. Lots of stories use this historical account as a basis for using blue body paint.

Or inspired by Apocolypto. I'm sure the Maya weren't the first culture to paint their bodies

That would make sense if they didn't look like Mayans and the game didn't take place in Central Europe.

Celts who lived all over europe did in general have a habit of painting their bodies and Picts who lived in british isles are a subgroup of celts.

Except they DON'T look like Mayans. The only points of similarity are:

(a) Neolithic tools and culture;
(b) Blue body-paint;
... end of list.

The Maya are a shorter, stockier people. Not the thin, lithe people we see in the Izila tribe.

Nor did the Maya have a monopoly on blue body-paint. The Picts (Scotland and northern England) did the same kind of thing - they used Woad. Google it.

Aztecs are still Mesoamericans.

Most of the people in FC 3 and 4 were brown/tan, well, that I can remember anyway. So it's not really surprising that primal has the same thing, then add blue paint.

Well, there's also this: IRL, most of the human species is brown/tan, not pasty-white like me. :)

I didn't wanna go there, but I will. Their skin tone seems a bit dark for the period, and definitely don't match the skin tone of someone who would have populated Britannia or anywhere near it during the time period.

The jungles of Europe.

... Britain is not "central europe".

Also: if you spent 90% of your time seminaked and out-of-doors, your skin would darken.

Even more, when you add in the "bathing is not yet a thing, and soap won't be invented for a few thousand years". (Seriously, everyon in the game is _filthy_ ... and a good many probably have lice, fleas, and so on. This is pre-hygeine, here!!)

GM Pax pls. I get it. But if you were to strip off the clothing the models would be full-on brown, no tan lines or anything.
Assuming the clothes are added to barbie-doll models: it's not worth the time to try and model in tan-lines. Especially for characters whose clothing might differ prounouncedly one from the other (and who would thus have differing tan-lines).

Don't ignore my point about their obvious South American features.
I'm not ignoring it, I'm refuting it. THEY DON'T HAVE ANY.

If you play total war or RYSE, you can clearly see the British barbarians during anicent times always painting their bodies. They called them "Berserkers" "Woadens" etc. They were often used for chieftains as well as spiritual leaders

This game is clearly a minecraft clone.
