Rideable Cave Bear???
Here's something I don't understand, why can't we ride the cave bear? We can ride the saber tooth which is smaller then it and we can ride the mammoth which is bigger than it.
Why Ubisoft why???

Thats the brown bear not the cave bear

The reason could be because Cave Bears in this are viewed as "cunning predators" or something, guess that could mean a Cave Bear is smart enough to be offended by the idea you want to ride on its back.

Yes but then why would it not care that there are spear heads and arrow heads inside its skin, but care if you ride it. Also its willing to die to save takkar so that in its own brings up an issue.

Maybe for balance reasons or issues getting it right since the cave bear is so fat

Why even bother riding it, the only thing that I have found with riding is higher speed - So use a sabre because your mount is weaker when you ride it, since it is controlled by you, the turn speed is lower, and it can't avoid attacks.

It's not good to ride it.

This isnt a discussion as to why we should or shouldnt ride mounts in Far Cry Primal, its a discussion about why we cant ride the cave bear in far cry primal. And about your comment, yeh i see what your getting at but come on wont it be awsome to ride around Oros on the back of the monsterous cave bear! If anything just for the joy of it.

You can't even ride the great bear... in fact, he pretty much kills himself constantly by running into things.. it's kind of pointless to use the bears.

I agree AI in this game is quite bad, but again we are straying off topic.

Well, since I went off topic, I will anwser why you can't ride Cave Bears.

Anwser: Ubisoft didn't want to make an effort of copy and pasting coding to the Cave Bear's script.

Thats the sad truth of it, wish they would patch it in. Atleast this discussion covers all the excuses Ubisoft could give us.

I had to pop in and say this as a software engineer. The game seems to be written in an oop style and that would mean a conscience choice not to have the bears but big cats and mammoths ridable. Might have been an accident or it might have been intentional. Prob accident

My best guess would be so the cave bear is not simply an upgraded version of the brown bear to players.

There are beasts that are upgrades to others, but they are either rare or only obtainable by quests.
