No "wait" button?
I just started playing the iOS version of this game. Is there no "wait" button to stay still while letting the monsters take a turn? Because I ended up "dancing" around with monsters such as worms, and it gets annoying fast.

Also is progress (on the iOS version) only saved between levels? Do I seriously lose all my progress if I switch to a different app?

correct: no wait button part of the game design

and the game saves at the start of every level, so if you quit, make sure it's at the start of a level.
This is sadly required as sort of an anti-cheat solution. People would simply retry/reload a level over and over just to get better scores on daily challenges / leaderboards.

No, it's a turn-based game, so you could save progress after every move.

That is designed to give the enemies the advantage, correct? So that they always get the first shot in an encounter (assuming the player is within their range)?

not really, more as part of the design to keep the speed/pace going. I want the player to move and think about the movements. A wait button would slow that down a lot and I really wanted to see what would happen if there's simply "no time to wait" :)

also some hazards and creatures would lose all challenge if we do add wait button (like the fire-pit rooms)

Btw, you can easily wait a turn by swinging the crowbar if you have one or shooting if you don't. There is just no waiting button. Doesn't mean you can't wait ;)

yeah there are certainly a few ways to counter it and trick some systems :D
