Multiplayer mode only?

Really wanted a devoted pirate game from Ubi after playing Black Flag. But I was also hoping it had single player and perhaps coop modes. :(

I don't know. They said Solo, but they can mean you can play alone in a Massive Multiplayer World with other players around you, just you don't join them. That's solo too and you need a continuous connection to the servers. Plus we know ubisoft. If they make an MMO, they recommend to play in co-op.

that sounds like The Division to me. solo is possible but co-op is much easier/faster. 5v5 is like darkzone but with ships. it seems there is some rogue/bounty action too from the description.

If they make this a proper singleplayer story, then this might the first time Ubisoft really listened to the fans

This is exactly what people where asking for, I loved Black Flag because of the naval combat, but everytime I suggested it, Assassins Creed turned people off

So i hope it's singleplayer and you can join to multiplayer :D

From the description it sounds like a Ghost Recon: Wildlands type experience. Wildlands only has the SP + COOP modes now, but PvP is supposed to be patched in by end of summer.

Wildlands is open world with a single player campaign, but you can invite friends or join public MM to play 4 player coop. This sounds like it will have 5v5 PvP as well on release day.

This is all wild speculation at this point, though.
