Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - First Assault Online

While patching, Avira found TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen
my antivirus (Avira Free) identified "Steam\SteamApps\downloading\369200\Shipping\GAME.exe" as a virus (TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen) while downloading the new update (70+ mb). but malwarebytes didnt find anything. after uninstalling the game,Avira didnt find anything too.
so i guess its a false positive, maybe a developer could clarify this :)
just wanted to mention it, maybe some ppl got the same problem.

When that happens devs should explain it IMO. If for no other reason than to give their players/customers peace of mind and a piece of their mind. hehe!

No probs.
You should however run a cleaner and see if it removes it and appears again.
And if you are super skeptical, don't install the game at all and just wait till Neople answers back.

Doesen't matter as long as the company at hand keeps being a failure and doesen't update their database, no matter who the provider.

I think he was talking about this crappy Avira AV company that should remove that false positive. There prolly the only ones finding this kinda packing malicious

That is why Kapsersky owns then as one of top 3 besides Bitdefender and ESET AV out there.

I didnt want to start an AV war ... :(
(never had a prob with Avira in the last ~6 years btw)

Im 99% convinced, this is a fp since i trust steam in that regard. I just hope some official can maybe confirm this as a false positive so i reach my 100 %

Damn I didnt know that. Kaspersky used to be a very good AV with a very good virus/malware database too.

Havent used it for a while. Weird that this AV is showing a packing method, which I think it's what it is. Theres nothing wrong with that. If anything, it's prolly to obscure the code so that hacker don't hack the game and bypass anticheatin.

Non sense anyway

Basicly from what I found out about that Crypt keygen program is that it reproduces itself when deleted and at some point may even spread to clog your system.
This is why I recommend running C-Cleaner and virus remover programs and also to reinstall the game just incase to see if it comes back.
It should be harmless mostly BUT it can be used as a virus.
It's a false positive here most likely but there is a chance that it's not.

Avira database got 3 updates since yesterday, Malwarebytes 2 and I I gave it another try.
Downloaded the game again and this time there was no alert. Checked the system with both programs again (maxed heuristic) aaaaaand .... nothing.
God, I hate false positives ... at least they fixed it pretty fast.
