This is not helpful. The problem is the Assassin's Creed Syndicate package no longer installs ubisoft connect, but the old uplay. Uplay doesn't work anymore.

That could indeed be an issue in this case, although Ubi-Verse advised basic connectivity troubleshooting first, as connectivity could also play a part and no launchers were mentioned as of yet.
If you do have UPlay installed, I would also suggest ensuring that the Ubisoft Connect launcher is installed instead, and not the old UPlay launcher, as this is no longer in use.
