Play Without uPlay
Please tell me this is possible. Can't launch the game because this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DRM. Can't log in. Can't make new account. Can't do ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ until the uplay gods decide I'm worthy. Is pirating the only solution to this garbage?

i found a fix when trying to run another ubisoft game prince of persia sands of time. they discussed going to store.ubisoft.com/us/home/ and clicking download at the top once that is done then run the game.

I just got it to work when using the UBISOFT CONNECT instead of the UPLAY. so download the ubisoft connect from the ubisoft store page and then rerun the game it will work just perfectly :)

Also having issues and have tried seemingly every solution out there down to updating BIOS, limiting the number of CPU cores, reinstalling, etc.

Interestingly, Ubisoft doesn't show that I own the game from their website though it does show other games I own with them, all of which have been purchased through Steam. So maybe something is up between the Ubisoft Connect app showing ACS, but not matching my account when viewed through their website? Idk, just spitballing ideas.

Somehow I seriously doubt it. I've got plenty of Ubi$soft games, most of those being wihting the AC franchise and whenever I log into their site it perfectly displays all of my acquisitions. But then again, most of those were actually made throught their Launcher/Store, either the older UPlay or Ubi$oft Connect, apart a couple of AC titles that to reacquire those through Steam (since I couldn't do it in CD-DVD anymore and most of those were occasionally removed from Ubi$oft's site).

What I'm supposing that it's happenning is a serious bandwidth hiccup between your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and the Ubi$oft's validating servers that are making that sort of blundering misshaps to occur (even if temporarily).
And as an example, I present my way longer and thinking logging into AC IV: Black Flag to keep replaying it because it was stuck upon loading the main game's menu for a few minutes, a thing that rarely happened to me.

Had the same issue. Somehow the uplay I downloaded from Steam seemed to be outdated. I uninstalled and reinstalled from a download on ubisoft's website. I managed to log in and everything worked well!

Yes, my good man. uPlay is outdated and DOES NOT WORK.

What you need to get is Ubisoft Connect. Once you get the uPlay, go to Ubisoft page and download Ubisoft Connect. It should automatically replace uPlay, with your game accessible and playable.

uPlay and Ubisoft connect are both spyware. They collect more than they should and work when not playing. Given they sell the games on Steam, no other DRM or launcher is needed. I will never again buy a game on steam which requires another store/launcher system. If I bought it via Ubisoft's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ store, then fine. However, when I buy on Steam I do not expect more spyware. Steam should intervene and stop it.
Maybe a poll of Steam members would convince them to enforce their original rules on distribution.

Steam is spyware, you have been using it since you made your account.
