I like the game, actually a bunch more than Unity, and I've played every one but Rogue. I can't help but feel the controls have taken a step back in this one. It's not just the usual zigging when you wanted to zag type thing, it actually feels like sometimes the game doesn't respond to button input. This is using a Logitech F310 as well as a Steam Controller.
Again, definitely like the game, but the lack of responsiveness and the sometimes mind-boggling misinterpretation of control input is really frustrating.

I know what you mean, but I've noticed that Jacob (for instance) will be standing near a thing to interact with and the crowd of people is moving by smoothly, his fabric swishes normally, stuff like that, but the first and sometimes second button press doesn't register; he doesn't wall eject, or doesn't drop down, that sort of thing, and either heads in the wrong direction or does nothing until I hit the button again (and sometimes move him around a bit). There's no drop in FPS, it's almost more like the game isn't selecting the context-appropriate action for the command based on where he's standing. Like I say, it doesn't happen constantly, just more often than it has in other games, including Unity (which is the same engine, right?).
I've calibrated both controllers and it's still a thing. Like I say, not gamebreaking because I've kind of been conditioned by the series, but annoying and more noticeable this time around.
One thing I did notice is that the animations are very long, and they must complete before the next action. Maybe that's what you're experiencing? I suppose it coud seem like a delay or lack of response.
For example. move forward, and then stop. The toon actually keeps moving (takes another step, and then widens their stance in a posture animation). Maybe this is about timing...pressing the action button right at the end of the animation. I'll have to watch for this now.
That might be it, actually.
