Infinite loading? Uplay being stupid? Help?
Whenever I try to open Syndicate, there is an infinite loading screen and it won't open the game. It just shows the industrial assassin symbol when you click play and before the actual game opens.

I've already tried these:
-Restarting computer
-Going offline on Uplay, Steam, and both
-Reinstalling Uplay
-Going into the redist stuff
-Updating stuff needed for the game probably
-Waiting forever
-And contacting a Ubisoft agent

Please help and don't comment the "I have the same problem" thing because that does not help whatsoever and just gets on my nerves. Gets nothing done.
Been salty for hours(8am- around 4 -5pm) trying to fix this. :steamsalty:

I have the same issue and you won't believe what fixes it for me. Adding the game .exe as a non steam game. Ridiculous but that did the trick for me. Now my copy is a uplay copy so maybe this won't fix it for you, but hopefuly it does.

Uplay has been updated a lot recently and clearly hasn't had the testing neaded and is unstable as hell.

How do you add it as a non steam game?
Gabi Nov 25, 2015 @ 6:47pm
bottom left of steam then add a non steam game. Find the .exe.

This may not work for you though as my copy doesn't use steam at all. At a guess none of your other uplayt games will load either. The other fixe is to backuip your games on uplay, uninstall uplay and reinstall it.

Please complain to ubisoft there support is steam levels of bad but maybe if enough complain that they can't play the games or even download them in some cases they may start listening.

I bought the game on Steam so does this work on Steam games too?

Also, I did the non-steam thing and it didn't work.

Damn, well uninstalling uplay and reinstalling my games worked for me, but then the issue came back two days later. The only permanent fix was to add my uplay games to steam as above. Which you can't do.

Contact ubisoft and expect a very slow repsonce. But personally, I would uninstall uplay and reinstall it. You shouldn't have to do it but it doewsn't take long.

I uninstalled and reinstalled U play about 5-6 times already. From Uplay.com and from the game's personal installer whatever.

Did you buy the game from Steam or what?

I have both steam games and uplay games. No uplay game will load for me without adding it as a non steam game currently. I don't have any ubisoft game I own directly on steam installed atm though so can't test it.

Is there anything else I can try?

Sorry I can't help you more. :(

This is actually caused by the most recent update to AC Syndicate. They finally got the game running perfectly and just had to release an update that causes the game to not load.

It wasn't, at least for me. It was all uplay games and after a major update to the platform early this year it no longer is an issue for me.

I believe it had to do with my windows user account, i'm not sure how or why though (based on the very little I remember of what the uplay support said to me).

i know this is old but if it isn´t working yet try going to steam and uplay instalation folder right click the exe to each and go to properties and in compatibility and check run this program as administrator
I know old thread but if someone has the same problem in 2025 like me, what helped me was right click ubisoft connect and set "run as administrator". Start Syndicate press alt + enter to minimize window, wait till syndicate crashes on start up, open Task Manager, click on syndicate right mouse click/ properties / set "run as administrator). Start again and now it should work.
