Have you noticed the police roaming around London? ... they will attack you shall you perform any unlawful actions, that includes wielding a weapon. The only valid argument you have is the cane which in itself is a hidden weaponry in plain sight until the short sword and mini scythe are unsheathed. So, you do have a good point for the cane's argument, but sadly, the devs rarely visit the steam forum ... if ever.
I suggest you to use the Ubisoft forum to make this suggestion.
... I am with you on that wish. In fact, I have requested that for AC III when in the Homestead areas ... my request was ignored by Ubisoft. Then the same request was issued for both Black Flag and Rogue ... of which the request was also ignored.
Even to track all the way back, my similar request for Brotherhood and Revelations before their releases was to have a trigger for hood-up and hood-down ... as we do see Ezio Auditore da Firenze had his hood down in the cutscenes; of course, this was also ignored.
I seriously doubt Ubisoft will consider this at all ...
.... :( .... It should be such an easy thing to implement too
Hence, I do side with you on the cane as I stated in my original response to you.
It would be nice to have the toggle but...
It is not really that simple when you have cutscenes that draw from your worn outfits. Toggles like that tend to mess a lot with cutscenes (you have your hood down and it shows up on cutscenes or viceversa).
It would also mean they have to make a separate animation for going into stealth mode (no point in putting hood up if it already is) or have the animation first check what your toggle is like.
In the end, it is time put into a cosmetic toggle that might end up just causing you to use even more time getting cutscenes andf animations to work properly... and that is time that is taken away from development of other things.
Also lets not forget how picky WE gamers are when things start clipping on certain movements, etc.
I'm not making excuses for Ubisoft here, just saying that "It would be easy to do XXXX" is not always an informed statement.
Yeah time they spent on the microtransactions menu :p
But seriously we had assassin's games where the hood was always on and the cutscenes were witouth and for the stealth animation they could've used the Unity one for when you're with the hood...but yeah i'm not a developer so if it's not there you're probably the one that's right :D
