What are you pc system specs and your game settings?
duEprocEss 11 ENE 2016 a las 7:16
I wonder if something is over heating. A game crashing and restarting a PC nowadays is very rare.

spec :- corsair vs 650 powerpack, vengence DDR4 8 gig memory, artic freezer i11 fans samsung SSD850 evo 250 gig HD with a 1 tb in reserve for storage, I5 core, asus maximus VIII ranger board and a nvidia geforce gtx 970 graphics card. All brand new and playing every other game with 0 trouble, just this one, game setting was on ultra. I cant see it being an overheating problem, never know tho im no whizz with pc's

Until i hit 60% i didnt get any crashes, but all of a sudden got constant crashing after going to an area of the Thames. Changing HBAO+ Ultra to just HBAO+ fixed it, not had a single crash since

Give it a go if you have it on HBAO+ ultra

if you have any monitoring app or overlay like MSI Afterburner i advise you to disable it. or try uninstalling your drivers with DDU and reinstall them again.

You have a very good pc but this game is very performance heavy. The Ultra settings (or gameworks) in this game are probably causing your GPU to overheat. Your 970 has 3.5GB Vram (technically 4GB of Vram but using that extra 0.5 might come with a performance cost with this game) this game can require up to 6GB of Vram to use the gameworks features (Ultra settings) depending on resolution. On the store page they recommend for a card such as yours to use high settings (3GB of Vram or more) for optimal performance. The gameworks demand a lot of performance and just aren't optimized properly for this game, or many games for that matter (a 980ti and a Titan GPU will even struggle to use the gameworks).

I recommend you use these settings for optimal performance and to not potentially damage your GPU:
  • Environment = High (Ultra* if memory meter is not in the red).
  • Textures = High.
  • Shadows = High (PCSS* if meter is not in the red).
  • Ambient Occlusion = HBAO+ (not Ultra).
  • Anti-Aliasing = FXAA (or MSAA2x + FXAA* if the meter is not red).
*You will probably only be able to set one or 2 of these higher, if at all.

Keep an eye on the memory meter in the games graphics settings in the top right corner. It will tell you how much memory your GPU will use when you change the settings, if the bar is blueish grey then you're good, if the first number in this: ????/???? is greater than second number, then the meter will be red and that means you're using too much memory for your card to handle (which is why you're crashing).

Now you can go a little over the memory in the meter if your case has good cooling and airflow (but not by much and be careful). I only recommend doing this if you download a temp monitoring software such as HWiNFO or GPU-Z and maybe look into other softwares like MSI Afterburner or Evga Precision X to allow custom fan settings for your gpu. And maybe also consider a slight overclock of your GPU if you wish to play at higher settings (I don't really recommend this since your card is fine and the game looks great even at high settings). Good luck.

RivaTunerStatistics requires the following settings to work properly:

App detection level -- LOW
Stealth mode -- ON
Custom Direct3D support -- OFF
Framerate limit -- [set to whatever you please, mine's at 60]
Rendering mode -- Vector 3D
OS Display coordinate space -- Framebuffer

A common issue is the display rendering mode NOT being set to Vector 3D and/or the Custom Direct3D support being turned on. The settings need to be as above otherwise the game rejects it's own existance and crashes lol.

OP, I have pretty much the same setup and whilst getting it to run at all let alone smoothly or indeed really well had its challenges its certainly been worth it.

I disabled Raptr, Afterburner, RivaTuner, Steam in game overlay and the Uplay one and it fixed it....kind of, i also had to alter the underscan-overscan settings but as i said i now have it running really well and now with the added bonus of it not CTD every few minutes or indeed just after startup.

Not sure i have helped but i do hope you get it sorted.

Overylays can work. I turned the uPlay one off then made the adjustments made in my previous comment to get RIVA working correctly.

I have a gtx 780 and run ACS in Win10 with no trouble.

My guess is that it has to do with settings on your gtx 970 card. I've seen a LOT of games where the people having problems almost universally have either an AMD card or a GTX 900 series card. Don't know what it is about 900s, but the computers don't like 'em.

well i got it working in the end i just put all settings on medium :)
