Unlocking Edward's outfit?
I have seen numerous times online people mentioning how to get Edward Kenway's outfit for this game. They all talk about redeeming a code that came with their Gold Edition of the game and then redeeming it for free in the Uplay Rewards. I bought the Gold Edition and I see no mysterious code to redeem. When I check the Uplay Rewards it tells me I need the Master Assassin Badge (Achieve 7,200XP in all Assassin's Creed games) in order to unlock it.

Am I missing something? Was the PC version just left out of the bonus code to unlock Edward's outfit?

From IGN: This outfit is a reference to the protagonist of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Edward Kenway. It is available for free from the Ubisoft Club.

Increase Kukri damage by 10%.

I had it at the beginning of the game... you don't have to put in any code or anything.

But as I said, I can't get the outfit. It's not visible in the game and Uplay says I need the Master Assassin badge in order to unlock the outfit with Uplay Rewards.

I had that badge at the beginning of the game too.
Master Assassin Reach 7200 XP in all assassin's creed games. Whatever that means, I didn't even notice I had it until you brought it up. Actually now that I think about it, this Ubisoft Club thing has a new XP system and I am level 31 with 61000 something XP unlocked. Probably from getting achievements and badges in previous AC games. I'm not entirely sure though.

If that is truly required, then that kind of sucks. I have 3 other AC games on my Uplay account but I've had issues with Uplay not giving me credit for my completion of activities. Like I'd be close to 7200 XP if it'd credit me completing Sequence 13 in Black Flag. I 100% that games yet some actions weren't credited.

But what of someone who only has 2 AC games on Uplay? Or someone who had the previous games on consoles and now got AC Syndicate for PC? It just seems ridiculous that Uplay wants to require you to play the other games to a good extent just to reach 7200 XP in total. Heck most of the games have at most 3,000 XP after completing all Uplay actions.

You are correct .

With the new Ubisoft Club (it replaces AC Initiates) completing achievements and actions give points , to level up your profile .

If you have earned a total of 7200 points from playing any of the previous AC games ( Doesn't matter which ones ), the Edward Kenway outfit becomes available as a reward in uplay .

Check your progress here - https://club.ubi.com

Edit , all AC games give up to 3000 points , except Syndicate = 6000 , and Liberation = 1500 .

Hope this helps :)

I'm really not entirely sure, I'm new to this whole XP thing because I just bought Syndicate and got back into Uplay. I do agree that that's kind of crappy that the make you do that (if that is what you have to do) just to get an outfit. But imo Edward's outfit doesn't really look to great on Jacob. I can't really put my figner on why, but it doesn't really.

I do have to agree on that. Personally I haven't like the legacy outfits on either of the characters just because it doesn't look fitting to me but the collector/completionist in me wants to collect all of the outfits anyways. So it's a little annoying to find I need to play/replay older AC games on my account just to unlock an outfit.

Yeah , it's a bit crappy alright if you don't own enough of the previous games to unlock the outfit .

I never use any of the additional outfits, I'd rather use the default one from the game , it just looks "right" .

Running around London dressed as a pirate ( or Paris in Unity dressed as Ezio ) just looks wrong to me .

One one hand I think it's neat that you can get rewards for your Uplay XP, some of the rewards you can buy with the points earned are kinda nice for some Ubisoft games. I bought a pistol with Uplay points for Watchdogs and used it for several hours in the beginning of the game, same for some of the extras I bought for Far Cry 3/4.

But on the other hand, I remember when unique items and outfits were obtained by doing something special in game. Like getting 100% completion or finding said item in a secret area, I miss those days. Now some developers just sell secret items as dlc which requires no skill to obtain, only more money (looking at you Evolve).

@Ninja, I also agree that I use the outfits that match the time period in these games (at least for my first playthrough).

@Temflakes, I got my Edward outfit and the Nighthawk outfit (and 2 more) from the "Welcome to the family" Syndicate website by redeeming points earned from checking in everyday and reading articles and the daily slot machine months before the game was released.
