Grappling hook is..
Really underutilized in games. I remember a game called "Battlefield Special Forces'' that had a grappling hook in game to use but this is a rather old game and it was an exclusively multiplayer game which I didn't really get to play all that much and use that tool in there even though I had played a lot of Battlefield 2 and Project Reality but...

To see something like that in a game like this is really wonderful because it is just fun to use and as I've noted it's really very, very rare for some reason in games. I know I've seen it in like just one more example of a game like Just Cause which I also didn't get to play because I didn't really like its over the top portrait of hectic and "whacky'' action learning later that it is kind of a decent (series of) game and singleplayer one but what I'd really love to see more is this mechanic of a grappling hook being used more in games of the singleplayer variety.

Before I think Assassin's Creed games going vertically in games was kind of a very rare feature at least not if it wasn't like designed and planned by the developer to have a linear route usually to get somewhere higher up and there wasn't really much to do but this doesn't take away from the player's I think desire and curiosity to visit places that are off the grid so to speak or are off the beaten path and in this sense even though it's in this game and these series of Assassin's Creed games the idea to go vertical often so it's not really unusual in that sense I think the addition of the grappling hook is such a welcome idea that I'm just all giddy because of that and to my knowledge and understanding this might be the only game that actually has a grappling hook out of the series as a whole which again I think is just kind of a pity.

I know Bioshock Infinite had a sort of a game mechanic with sky hooks which are kind of similar to grappling hooks but not really the same because again the game there needs designed routes to be able to use them and other than that I think I've really seen very rarely such a tool and mechanic in games which is kind of sadge…

Anyway.

Here is to the Grappling Hook in Assassin's Creed Syndicate. A rare sight.

PS, there are definitely grappling hooks present in games and gaming it's just very rare I think.
