FIXED - Character controlling itself / gamepad not connected

Problem

I played the first couple of missions fine, then suddenly after a cutscene I tried to run and my guy didn't move. Or he ran into walls. Then I let go of the buttons and the guy's walking on his own or running around in a circle. Then pressing buttons doesn't work at all.

It's not lag or low FPS now I'm in the city, it's running fine, 60 FPS.

Keyboard + mouse works, first missions were fine, menus and loading controls are fine, so... this is weird...

Cause

It's because the game sometimes loses its, I guess, 'signal' with the desktop and thus the controller.

If you unplug and plug in your controller (mine was a PS3 DS3) in-game, you might notice that it doesn't reconnect. Then alt-tab out and it immediately connects or gives all the notifications at once.

Solution

Change from fullscreen to borderless in the video options.

There was still the odd occasion where it happened for a few seconds, I think it was whenever the area was heavily populated with NPCs.

Thanks for the added details, would that perhaps be when you loaded in or just when you entered/walked into such an area?
