Fix for Steampunk Outfit/Victorian Legends Outfit not installing

These two free DLCs wouldn't install for me. Their pages say "Free to play - Download", which launches the game but otherwise does nothing useful. If the DLC packages aren't linked to your account after clicking those links, this is for you.

What I did to get it to work was to right-click the download link and copy it to the clipboard, then paste it into my browser and change 'run' to 'install'.

Opening that "steam://install//<packageid>" link should make the steam client open the install dialog. It will look broken, just click till it says it can't install, it's fine. At this point steam should have linked the DLC package to your account and started downloading a ~500MiB update.

Do this for both DLCs, and the next time you run the game UPlay should pop up the 'You're going to link these to your UPlay account' and you're done. You can also check your DLC listing and there should be two entries for each pack, one base package and one "Uplay activation" package.

If your browser doesn't already know how to open these links, you'll have to associate it with the client (steam.exe). This will vary from browser to browser. I used Firefox.

Wow, this worked. It didn't launch from Chrome but I was able to use "Start > Run" to get it to fire up.

Free DLC costumes appear registered to my account and is currently installing the costumes. I will report back if it doesn't work. I looked all over and couldn't find anything.

Yeah, using Start->Run is probably an even better way, that should pretty much always work.
