(resolved) Switching audio sample rate fixed sudden stuttering (resolved)

Hello,

I had some stuttering today happening every three seconds.
While in dishonored 2 or other games there was none.

Just switching my audio sample rate from 44khz to 48khz, fixed the problem.

I'm back to 44khz, and stuttering is gone.

Steps i tryed before finding the solution:

display driver uninstaller + reinstalling 17.4.2 drivers.

full reinstall of the game, after removing ini files in documents folder.

Swaping graphic card to another pciexpress 3.0 slot.

checking wiring was ok.

I was playing the game on ultra, shadow without pcss, no aa, and v sync
Running the game on low fixed nothing.

( for me game experience is ok as it is, even if i have only 2GBvram i don't see graphics slowdown .)

Dishonored 2 demo play fine on my comp
Same for gta5 maxed without AA +visual5 (playing solo only if io use mods.)

This is why i was thinking something went wrong with the hd7870 till i switched audio sample rate.
Maybe it's a windows 10 creator update bug, as it never happend before with windows 7, and a full install of windows 10 anniversary.

16gb 2400 mhz gskill

I have bad news again,

I have to change the audio sample rate to another rate, every time i replay the game after a reboot, or stutter is back.

I will reinstall realtek found on the website again, and repost if there is some change.

Just posting again, as reinstalling audio driver is not fixing it, same for reset of bios options to default, + reconfigure settings.

I must check again if it does appear with creed unity, or other games, maybe one day i wiull find a true solution instead of swaping sample rate every computer reboot since today.

It does it now on every games, gta 5 stop stuttering once i switch audio sample rate:p

I hope it's not temporary, but right click on taskbar sound icon, then troubleshooting audio, fixed the problem.

Uninstall and reinstall of sound drivers was not enough.

I did too: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
then sfc /scannow

but i already did it yesterday, sources are not valid for dism since creator update,
and i check time to time if dism work.

At last sfc /scan now, work at 100% without finding problems.

It does happen again after a reboot, i must disable the audio chipset in uefi bios, to check.
Maybe it's the graphic card that is borked after all ?

After few computer restart, and testing this game without realtek sound,
There is no stuttering.

So either there is a sound driver bug / windows 10 creator bug,
Or it's the alc 892 that is dead (dead but no stuttering with audio, no distorsion)

But i have a little idea about what happend.

I tryed today to oc my graphic card by adding +50mhz memory and gpu clock.
+20% powerlimiter.

This is after 20 minute of gameplay the game started to stutter.

Then all the steps i tryed, to diagnostic a problem in my first post failed, till i tryed to swap audio sample rate.

I have an intel hd4600 igp integrated to the motherboard, i should try to see if it does stutter while audio is enabled.

I have a big doubt doing a small oc by +50mhz is has killed the audio chipset.

Ok,

This is more weird than what i thought.
I uninstalled the realtek audio drivers after uninstalling them.
I kept the audio chipset in bios disabled for at last 4 reboot, but testing ac syndicate.

I just re enabled the audio chipset and installed driver, tested the game, rebooted, tested the game, then reboot a last time.

It does look the problem is gone.

After all if it's working :)

Look nice so far with17.4.3 drivers compatible with creator update.
relive pannel is not crashing anymore.

edit, nah it's stuttering again, until i swap the audio sample rate.

Ok finally did some test this morning.
It does look ok.
I have a silly theory,
hd 7870 epida memory, couldn't accept a +50 mhz oc. (could be the core also, but i doubt a 1100 mhz core at stock voltage, +20 power boost, is bad.)

I watched carefully oc guide for my dualx 7870 version, and i know epida can't accept value like 1400 or 1500mhz contrary to some hynix or samsung memory version.

a website tested the dual x at 1375 mhz memory, and 1125 core, stock voltage.

So a 1250mhz instead of 1200mhz memory, is not a big deal.

my graphic card, the first day i got it, had fan grinding, so i bought two years later on ebay, a dualx fan, and installed it myself, the card is quiet now.

I'm sure i mounted it well, and applyed mx-4 thermal paste on the gpu core.
Setting the fan to 100% when i had the stuttering, didn't fix it.

I let my computer rest few hours, it did help, some way.

I can't diagnostic the real culprit.
But the most important part, is everything is working fine again.

If one day i buy a rx580 8gb or gtx 1060 6gb, i won't try to oc memory on it, core is more safe.

Back to the computer, the problem is back, i need to switch audio sample rate to 44khz then 48khz again , 48khz, to 44, then 48khz, or any other rate, to fix it.

Windows update has newer version compared to what can be find on realtek hd audio download page.

I just downloaded the cab from windows catalog, extracted the cab to a folder, and launched driver installation manually.

The new driver from wu, is set for redstone2 (creators update)

Also, i fixed an error from event viewver related to

WPN Srumon Server

I had to add my user to the security tab after taking ownership in regedit from trusted installer to administrators, then add full control, to not have grey tabs inside dcom configure.

the security rights where my username was not added to security tab of WNP Srumon Server, could lead to possible crash of windows.

I never had this error in anniversary version, it's new from creators update.

I will try to fix different errors if they appear in event viewer as time pass.

I hope the redstone 2 realtek hd drivers will fix things.

WU update 6.0.1.8122 realtek drivers isn't helping either.

I'm back to thinking i may have a dead 7870

It's worse and worse.

Now watching a video (flash not installed) in firefox, games stutter, i have to change sample rate, it does fix for few minutes, then it happen again.

I just found a problem with gpsvc this service was not started.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SVCHOST

there was a missing multi-string: GPSvcGroup
GPSvcGroup was missing. same for dwords values inside.

I found the fix on technet, windows server topic

In windows 10, i guess it's still safe to apply the fix, as in a windows 10 forum, they applyed the same step.

So now GPSvcGroup is running after a reboot, and i reseted WInsock too.

I check often the windows event viewer log, and this problem was not present before creatore update.

I htought it could be a malware, trojan, , or anything crapware, that could have done that.

Watched different security forum, tryed different scanners or tools like mbar, zemana while draging C:\ to it , zhp diag,
(i have done multiple full scan with my kis 2017 security suiite)

tryed emsisoft portable full scan, adw cleaner.

With no results.

The good thing about this freezing every three or four seconds problem, is i fixed thing that could lead to potential big crashes.

I had those problems, since the day i installed creators update , but i didn't know how to fix it.

It took me days to check forums, till i managed to get the solutions one by one.

I know it's not a troubleshooting forum place here, but i'm so happy to find solutions, i must post here :)

edit, tryed to do a search for last month about GPSVC

and a guy had some problem on april 13 with a new computer build, when suddently after a windows update, he had probem to log on, with GPSVC as culprit.

I think what happend for me could be a windows update bugafter all

I had kernel debug mode on. "bcdedit /enum" in powershell show debug flag on :(
I had to use:

bcdedit /debug of

after switching temporary in uefi / bios secureboot to other os.

and remove a device with name i don't remember, could be, network debug interface , or ethernet debug.

Off course i had not this ethernet kernel debug function on before creator update...

With all the problems corrected manually, now if acc creed syndicate is not responding.
I can send the game exe process to another desktop task, come back to task manager in the first desktop instance, and kill ac syndicate exe in desktop task two.

No need anymore to disconnect my user account, or restart the computer.

Still investigating things around.

For the first time since creator update, event viewver is catching the error:

0x0000005,

I may exclude dep from running with ac syndicate ?

Ok in dcomconfig, it's related to runtimebroker
runtimebroker is checking metro apps permissions or something like this.

so i have to add system account to it, as it's not present.
I just did it, now systembroker will work.

i had to give permission to the windows firewall: NT SERVICE\mpssvc was added, i checked names, and gave full control.

Maybe it could be the windows firewall been disabled too.
But my security suite is handling everything, so i should not worry (checked security center)

I have resolved everything.

No more events in events log, showing with red ! flag.
Only one yellow flag, but it's for the asus probe sense 2 driver not loading, it did that in windows 7, 10, 10 anniversary, and creator update.

It's up to asus to fix it... one day.

No more dcom authentification errors, and many other red / yellow flags due to various problems.

I could play creed syndicate for a very long time period without crash.
I think everything is ok right now.

Amd latest drivers added for rx580 compatibility, are less stable than previous one that is less stable than... and the list can go on.

I'm pretty happy to fix things as time past.

i had to change value inside GPSvcGroup key

dword 32:
AuthenticationCapabilities

value:
3020 in hexadecimal or 12320 decimal

one guide sayd to change hexadecimal value to 0x00003020
But X can't be wrighted to the dword32 vaue, instead, i had a wrong value because of this.

I had again few GPsvc related errors.
In fact AuthenticationCapabilities must be set in decimal to 12320 or hexadecimal 3020 or errors will show again.

No one is able to answer why this value must be set to 12320, reading forums, microsoft would need to disclose some part of the source code, to explain the set value.
And it's not possible to do.

So only thing i understand, is everybody who tryed something different, got GPsvc errors.

Lots of atierecord id 16387 errors, could be linked to an amd service.
It need either a reinstall of graphic drivers, as the error is related to amd services or wait for an hotfix.

This happend after i began a scan with esetsmartinstaller (at same time, having 20 atierecord at different time.

Errors Stopped after a reboot, so i guess it's maybe related to eset while doing a scan.

Everything is resolved, i wanted to wait before posting again.


i got to fix different things related to Distributed Transaction Coordinator /com /com+
Fix keys or add them in Rush (tool regedit to access it)

Disable Windows remote administration / remote powershell (disable winre service, and set winre with rush / command line settings.

As i don't need it, and i had lot of criticals errors, at logs , inside event viewver folders

I don't remember, but there was alsoother steps i folowed to fix things, prior my first post.

Looking at errors one by one, i'm not alone, having them while creators update, took the lead,
disrupting safe and safe settings, into a nightmare.

In the future, i oculd have a crashy windows, and unstable computer

All this can be fixed by microsoft if they provide a patch.

Thing is people reported lots of problems before creators update been released to public,
And releasing it as it, cause troubles to many computers.

I think people having a full reinstall of windows 10 creators update, will have everything fine.

But for things like missing sources with DISM, and one or two things i don't remember like chkdsk not working for some users / chkdsk screen locked at 100% for hours

A full reinstall had no effect.

If i posted all the troubleshooting messages in AC syndicate forum.
It was because in other games, i was not having that much stuttering, and i would not think about fixing it anyway.

I just remember i had logs entry about automatic recovery, (for drivers or material, i don't understand it yet) it was about KERNEL WHEA

It's possible it could be the actual amd drivers that was leading to automatic recover,
But faulty computer, material could happen.

There is a solution to know what was faulty, but it does require i call microsoft ,
And ask them to analyse a full kernel dump, so they can diagnostic KERNEL WHEA errors.


It's not a red or yellow flag error, it's just indicate there was an automatic recovery that fixefd a potential problem, but the root cause is still there.

There is no other way that calling micr'osoft for them to access KERNEL info.

I won't do this, i give up.

I'm angry, yesterday i missed one thing:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BITS
there was a missing chain:

PerfMMFileName i created it.

the value was:

Global\MMF_BITS_s

it iwll fix an error with perflib with C:\Windows\System32\bitsperf.dll  and performance data that couldn't be collected.

The troubleshooter from microsoft for bits even if it sayd it fixed the registry and repaired bits service, was not doing it's job by adding PerfMMFileName key, and subvalue

Ok reading more forums, it's not critical things, just performance counter having to be rebuild.

in powershell or cmd: for 32bits windows

For 64 bits windows;

ANother solution is absolulytoo much resky, removing framework 2.0 i guess, by removing keys in regedit, then reinstalling framework 2.0 but i won't do it, as it's heavily integrated deeply inside windows 10.

Touching .net framework, use of tools to repair it, may harm it more than doing good things.

In windows xp, i had no problems, windows 7 basic was ok maybe, then after sp1, if i remember, repairing it could corrupt more things.

In windows 10, if my memory is good i should not touch .net framework, especially version integrated to the os.

Newer version i may download , and not integrated to windows 10 can be safely installed or removed.

Next answer is doing a clean boot from microsoft again.
Then check if issue persis on safe boot.

The group policy client in services, is not started.

I just reset winsock and i will restart the computer,
It's the only fix possible i found, if fixing regedit keys for gpsvs and svchost is not working.
