Unresponsive controls during combat

Is anyone else having this issue? Anyway, I noticed this tonight while fooling around with side quests, but it became quite obvious during the Spring Heeled Jack mission. So I'm in the dungeon where I have to defeat the cultists (before Jack shows up) and out of nowhere Evie just stops responding, she won't move, attack, dodge, break defense or use healing items, she just stands there and gets her throat slashed. so I thought it was my fault for not playing attention, so I start over but more stealthy and I kill two of the guys before they realize whats up. Then Jack shows up, so I'm wailing on him beating the living snot out of the guy when again Evie stops responding to my command prompts and won't do jack (not that kind of do...ya pervs :P) I know he has paralyzing smoke bombs but she stops responding before he drops them. Am I at a point where he's supposed to get away or are the commands slow to respond? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

literally just had the exact same problem with the spring heeled jack mission. is there a fix to this or is it unknown? I don't remember any issues with this mission in past playthroughs

Woah, I forgot about this, Umh...AFAIK, You just have to get super lucky and pray that Evie starts responding before you loose too much health.
I don't think there is an official fix.

afaik that mission is buggy, used dynomite on the cult and didnt get the bonus points either

Spring heel and two fight clubs for me so far made it where I couldnt break defense anymore. Pressing space to parcour upwards etc still worked, but I just couldnt kick people back into defenselesness. Countering still works and breaks defense, but its kinda strange to just stand there waiting for someone to attack and loosing combo.
