Driving Tips?

Any advice on races? I notice I may be winning some of the races and it seems the horse fatigues or something and they outrun me near the end. What is a good method to pace the horse so I don't randomly start falling behind?

Upgrade your carriages early through Gang Upgrades so that you have better speed and deal more damage.

Then apart from spamming the boost just ram your carriage into anyone that comes close to you or tries to overtake. Also try to drive directly in front of the carriage behind you so that they can't speed up to overtake - don't let the one behind you drive beside you.

If an opponent's carriage manages to drive beside you just make sure you lead them to an inevitable crash.
