Changing review from positive to negative
Ok 55 hrs in, at the no'sajiz or so'najiz temple, the puzzles are just getting ridiculous.
Stopped playing about a year ago, decided to play it again, totally lost my touch with the game after a year, looked up a walk through video, and damn, its basically a trial and error and memorize the pattern and repeat it with your joystick..
Game was so good at first, building the world, loved the movements and battle, loved the path finding, the music, loved the puzzles too at first .
If its too hard, take a break they said, yeah took a year long break and now im completely unable to continue.
I hope i can finish the game because its been building the world, yet after 55 hrs, i still dont seem to have gotten to the main story. Like whats going on in the real world and why is Lea stuck here voiceless?
I dont care about the story anymore.
I hope the game ends soon, it says i got two more temples left. Omfg.
Please design the next game less like a perverted freak show.
The puzzles seem to be designed by someone who is getting aroused making it difficult without any fun element.
That, is a type of perversion.

who would have guessed that the game becomes boring when you watch a walkthrough... Seriously, what did you expect?

It was my first time looking up a walk through since i havent played in over a year. Needed some help remembering how puzzles worked. Never said the game is boring.

I did come back to it several times during that year, but every time i booted it up the puzzle in nosajiz temple was just so bad. Quit within 2 minutes.
you still left in the middle of a dungeon, still not sure what you expected

Yeah that was a bad idea. I got burnt out at the wrong place i guess.
Just beat the temple and got 2 more to go. ♥♥♥♥..
i would not recommend doing all those temples back to back, they're 3 separate areas for a reason.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend the game to most people. Not because it's a bad game, but because you really have to like the puzzles to get a enjoyable experience. It's a niche game.

I loved the puzzles half way.
The way i beat the puzzles surprised me a lot. Very innovative and it felt like i wasnt supposed to beat it that way, and i found my own method of something . Very cool feeling.
It just went over the line at some point .

Oh yeah, they definitely overdid it, which is a shame because there are a few interesting story elements buried deeply underneath all the puzzling.

I know steam achievments are bad metric but it looks like only about 1/5 of the people that started playing made it all the way to the end. Most stopped playing.

Seems pretty normal to get frustrated and quit.

or the game was in beta and didnt have the rest of the game yet
sometimes when you put a game down you're done regardless of the completion percentage

To be honest, the jungle area is way too big for its own good and adding 3 dungeons in this area makes it even more unattractive to navigate. So I can understand that the creator of the topic has gave up on the game. The best advice I can give is to alternate between a dungeon and some jungle explorations to find as many chests before attacking the next dungeon and then discover what you can unlock in the jungle with this new power.

The game already proposed to do the same with the temple of the desert: when you reached half way, you could interrupt your exploration to go and do additional side quests in the village.
I'm at just under 35 hours and basically just made it to the jungle today. It's pretty big... somehow I missed the town and explored all of the jungle it is possible to access without the final 2 elements before I even found the town, lol. I think I have like 80% of the plants completed already and finally realized there was a town.

This game does need breaks. Honestly I love it so much so far, and cannot wait to play more but I do pace it out. My wife knows, Sunday mornings is CrossCode. I make a bunch of coffee and sit and play. I sometimes play during the week once or twice, but not always. I played on a plane on my steam deck last week, and that worked really well for like 4 hours until the flight landed.

I honestly think spacing it out like this for myself has made a huge difference in my enjoyment of the game. I obviously don't know what they mean when they say take a break, but I imagine this is basically what they intended. You just have to space it out a bit. Yeah, going for a year would be tough... I can imagine all of your soft skills have stayed up on other games, but this game requires quite a bit of familiarity for the puzzles and even the combat.

I hope you keep trying it. Space it out a bit. But hey, if you don't like it then play something else and have fun with your time.
Loved that game and enjoyed the puzzles, but if more effort was put on making some kind of actual content like ''raids'' and such for a few otherwise puzzle dungeons (since is a MMO world) it would have been so much better, nothing wrong with the puzzles, is just too many hours of game and dev time wasted.

And i'll forever miss what that game could have been, a very good combat and skill system in a feasible and immersive single-player MMO world.

I've just started and think I am about to complete the ice dungeon... my main issue so far isn't the difficult puzzles... but the excessive amount of puzzles. This dungeon could have easily been reduced by 60%... maybe more... It is clear that the developers didn't consider personal time when creating this dungeon lol.
