The key to instantly destroy most enemies and bosses : assault. It's extremely strong.
The best weapon in the game, by far imo, is the Tremor Mirage.
Can only have one since I'm not playing on NG+ so I combine it with a Skirmisher+, another great weapon overall. Cerberus fang is another good weapon, but I prefer the bonuses from Skirmisher.
Assault Harness+ is my pick for the armor, it combines great with the Tremor Mirage.
The obvious head choice would be Furious Hothead+.
Another obvious pick would be the Lunatic Paws UwU for your boots. Damage-wise, they're insane and the added dash is amazing.
I'm sure there's tons of viable builds, but that's what I used and I managed to get true plat on every cup, for what it's worth.
I kind of agree with this. I only just realized a few days ago (mind you I have 1500 hours of play time), that the 'projectiles' from the Assault modifier actually build your SP bars, and does so way faster than pretty much anything else. With the Tremor Mirage and the Assault Harness, you pretty much fill a bar with literally every single swing. It's absolutely insane and probably broken. The trade-off compared to Brawler is that your melee arts don't gain any benefit from Assault, but if your atk is high enough it pretty much doesn't matter. Assault is also great for getting those break states fast.
I like your build Broly, mine shares 3 of the same pieces. Furious Hothead, Tremor Mirage, and Assault Harness. I like shooting stuff too, so my second weapon is usually the Shuriken Shooter. It's so broken and awesome. xD And yeah, most the time I will also use the Lunatic Paws UwU, but if I need more sustain I'll swap the boots and second weapon for Highmeister Gloves and Pegasus Greaves. Nice thing about the Highmeister Gloves, besides the excellent increase in the PG window, is the Bouncer modifier, which generally offsets the low atk stat. At lv 76 my atk stat in neutral is well north of 800, with a focus hovering around 650, and defense about 430. It's very well rounded IMO.
Bullseye is a fine modifier since you're going for crit stacking, but in my personal experience, even at 999 focus those crits just don't turn up often enough to make it worth it. Bullseye only increases the damage dealt on a crit, not how often they occur. If it was the other way around, totally different story. High focus is good, but if you neglect either atk or def it just won't be worth it.
Having tried to lean on the momentum modifier, which is basically only Pendulum striker and Lunatic Paws, I can tell you it's not very good. And this is coming from somebody who thinks dash arts are the best arts, period. I think there's just not enough equipment bits to really extract the value of momentum, and/or the values are a touch too low. But if you can survive the hit to your HP, Lunatic Paws by themselves are an excellent piece. It's a lot the same with the Bouncer modifier-- if you can kill things before putting them in break state, you're not getting your money's worth. Plus it's difficult to exact on enemies you have to break multiple times before they're stunned.
Basically, it boils down to the fact that consistent output is generally better than relying on luck-- or bonuses restricted to situational gains. Assault, Brawler, Shooter, these will pay off in the long run. Take Bullseye, Momentum, or Bouncer as a secondary focus and you will be rewarded greatly when they do come into play.
