After the intro it lets up and the characters get better.
I agree that some games need to shut up and let you invest on your own before asking for so much attention (looking at you tales of series)

But yes and no, game is a rpg and has lots of dialogue, but the game lets you breath after the intro and tutorial segments. After that it'll be in bursts like any other rpg.

I totally understand, I'm not big on lots of dialogue. But for you and anyone else who reads this, just stick with the game, past the first hour. And when you finally get set free to really play the game, you will have a blast. My #1 game. Have fun.
