Though it is much easier if you use your guard to block the projectiles.
I think that many players have problems with it because the controlled jumping + guarding on those narrow platforms requires a different playstyle compared to the fast dodging around that is often preferred during normal combat.
Also, it will get slightly easier in the next version. For example, you will have more time during the extra challenge.
In any case, thank you for the feedback! I always love to read quest-impressions (even the angry ones, haha....). :>
Maybe the panel should instead be placed right into the entrance of the chasm with a "access denied" barrier around it until the player chooses a mode (at least for the second runthrough).
But what rubs me even more the wrong way is the kind of inconsistancy of the entire hard version. Basically you make this huge deal out of "AND NO TRY IT WITHOUT A SHIELD, NEWBIE" just to be like "yeah, this actually isn't possible, here's your shield back, sry" for the final part... A more elegant solution would have been to make the plattform a little bit bigger instead, but I'm not sure if the engine actually allows scaling for such objects? Or how about two (maybe slightly smaller) plattforms circiling around each other constantly like a Merry-go-round?
I also considered replacing the challenge with a simple "all projectiles are faster" one and just keeping noShield optional without relevance to challenges. But that would honestly not be as interesting.
As for players forgetting to reactivate it: The quest-tasks actually reset when you leave or deactivate it, so you already got that hint.
Though I just got an idea for a convenient hint before starting...
The first time I misread teh description, just because my "Challenge accepted spirit certainly), I did read that you have to disable you shield especialy for the last part, I did not activated my shield just in case, until the last part.. Were I also tried to dodge. But that was because I immagined it being much harder. I found a trick using the ball, you can moove and jump with greater precision and avoid shot while staying on the same platform with "relative ease", it allow you to moove slower, but with greater precision....
I would not mind a warning sign that you cannot avoid...
But In the other hand a brrier sound no good if you have to die and redo the challenge, from the first part.. Just remember super meat-boy. That's right. Youd did get me.
With the no shield part completed twice and without the bug giving you back your shield for the last part.
I don't know how it was before, but now It's not that hard all things considered.
