Shizuka PvP rules
I took a long break from the game right about before Shizuka PvP fight, and now I've returned to the game and am having real trouble with it. Can please someone at least explain how many rounds do I have to win in order to progress through the story? Obviously I thought I had to win all 5, but I did some research and it seems like the fight ends before that, but I was not able to find how many rounds exactly I have to win.

Some tips for the fight itself would be appreciated, too. I'm level 50. What combat arts are good against her?

Thanks in advance.

From what I remember you need 12 "points" to end the duel either way. If you win a round, you get 2 points, if she wins a round, you get 1 point. So 2 extreme scenarios are you winning 6 rounds in a row or you losing 12 rounds in a row.

Level 50 can be OK if you got at least 3-4 pieces of gear from Rhombus Square and you unlocked some tier 3 combat arts.

Clock Block and Glitch Time are good because they trigger off shizuka's ranged projectiles too (and she will just jump back if you try to Guard Art her melee attacks, unless for some narrow timings), and then you have a much easier time to deal damage to her. I think she totally ignores Warp Decoy. Calamity Trigger, Ragnarok and Cold AoE melee arts can be useful because their "catch" range is significant and once she is caught in she will eat the rest of the Art's damage. I personally like the tier 2 Cold Throw Art that spawns multiple projectiles, because every time I used it Shizuka couldn't dodge all the shrapnels.

Aside from arts, perfect guarding her when she charges at you with melee attacks is good because she gets broken and you can keep swinging at her. For the same reason Dash Arts that require you to collide with the enemy to deal damage are good in her melee "phase" because she runs straight at you when she wants to hit you. You can Amber Breaker/Final Showdown into her.

Sphere Guard or however the first neutral Guard Art is called is also good because it absorbs a lot of damage. Maybe you put yourself in a proverbial or literal corner when Shizuka is about to use a level 3 art, so Sphere Guard might allow you to survive.

Thank you.

Wait, so I can just lose 12 times and continue through the story? But the duel ends after she wins 5 rounds. Or these points stack up through multiple attempts?

I beat her at level 61-62, its easy if you bump up your level a bit. But also make sure you are well equipped with equipment thats lvl 60 as well, or at least close to it.

I was able to beat her at level 1, mostly involving letting her attack as I dodge and only attack her when she is open. If she shoots, dodge and charge to attack at her, play aggressive. If she intends to charge at you, dodge the 3 hit combo, attack her right after. But be aware of her specials, which she sometimes uses after the 3 hit combo.

Also, if you manage to avoid her strongest attacks, she is usually off guarded. Allowing you to attack her.

Ice guard 2 is temp invulnerability even if you miss the block damage, giving you a few seconds of free attacks, and as ironic as it seems, shock boost your melee damage to near double even with few points spent on the path to it's level 3 melee or throw arts. Combine with food to boost focus (which will speed up art point gain), and Sazuka's a pushover. Even if only for 5 seconds, an invincible beatdown from the goddess of thunder with a finisher she could never hope to dodge, yeah, most bosses not outright immune to electricity hate this trick. Always remember to use your elements wisely.

That was my situation exactly. Thanks for creating this thread!
