I myself wished that there was more combat but i enjoyed the puzzles throughout the game. Just sitting there chilling looking at the layout is nice sometimes.
Pick it up, it'll suck you in, but yes be prepared for lots of puzzles in the later hours of the game.
Let's see: yea, there is a lot more puzzles down the road. With the extra mechanics, they are also more in depth the later you progress. The Dungeons especially: only enter those if you have around an hour free. They can be infuriating, but I'd say a few rounds of killing/farming mobs should cool you off (at least that's what i do to clear puzzle anger)
Well, I call this game bascially Zelda for adults, the layouts of the dungeons are fantastic and it is a challenge to naviage through them. If you expect more an Hack'n'Slay type of game ala Diablo or YS, the open-world section will more favour to you I guess. But if you not have much appreceation for intriguing zelda-like dungeons I guess the game is not really for you.
But, I don't know. The game is very puzzle heavy. I would say that are even more puzzles than real fights in the main dungeons, so this might compromise your enjoyment out of this game since you don't see to like them.
I enjoyed it (maybe even more than fighting), so I can't really give you good advice.
If you are good at finding patterns, you can finish it very quickly. You can solve any puzzles in this game recognizing patterns, observing and some testing.
It's only infuriating if your mind-set tells you it is.
Btw, if you watch videos for the hard puzzles and lower the difficulty, you WILL solve it after 1~3 tries. Maybe 5 min at most for the hardest ones.
That said there are a LOT of puzzles, and they can be HARD. Even exploring the levels is a puzzle in the late game, though not in the way games traditionally implement puzzles.
It depends on how much you hate them. If you just find them boring and don't mind watching tutorials, great. If you don't like to think and being forced to think is frustrating, well the game will definitely get frustrating.
Yeah I don't know, I REALLY tried to get past my aversion for puzzle but I just couldn't. And let's not forget that puzzle solving is a very specific type of inteligence, if yours is as poorly developped as mine you should definetely skip the game.
Aside from the puzzle-aspects, I really love what they did with this game. However, they should really label it as an ARPG - Puzzle hybrid. I find the current description of the game a bit misleading.
[EDIT : The About the game section on steam has very little emphasize on puzzle, most of it is about ARPG ].
That being said, you should try the easy puzzle mode and walkthroughs. That might do the trick for you but don't do like me, forcing you to play a game because you want to like it.
