I know about that, it's just somewhat awkward as half the time I'm a bit off-center and fire a ranged attack instead by accident. Hence, I'd like to be able to directly map melee to mouse button two.
If you have additional mouse buttons, you might be able to use other software to map them to keyboard keys and that way you can configure the melee-keyboard-key to be used via additional mouse keys.
This, basically. @aych I get there's a certain game design philosophy you want to be followed and I understand the reasoning, but I still feel the end-user feeling comfortable in their own skin so to speak should be a chief priority.
I agree, all controls should be remapable. This is important for 2 reasons. It allows a user to remap controls to suit their preferences, and it also makes the game more accessable to people with disabilities that may prevent them from using the defult control scheme. There's nothing wrong with making the developer intended control scheme the defult, but there's really no good reason to force it on the user.
But seriously, remapping mouse buttons is a neraly ubiquitous feature in PC games, and has been for well over a decade. As a user of a fairly unusual mouse myself, I find it pretty annoying when a game won't let me map things to mouse button 3.
Just quoting this post to highlight how stupid it is
