Consider adding a quest tracker.
This is something that every MMORPG has and would add to the feel of this game being an MMO. I find remembering where to turn in quests a bit annoying in this game, as there are so many quests and traders, it would be nice if your quest tracker had some sort of glowy arrow telling you were to go next.

Nope. No thank you. Part of what I love about this game is how little hand-holding it does. Most of the time the quest descriptions narrow it down to at least what map 'panel' you need to go to, so I don't see the point anyway. And the other times, the quests feel purposely designed to encourage exploration, such as the first one given to you by D'kar where it alludes to a place where it's raining and you need high rank.

Yeah, in most ways a "little dotted line" or glowy arrow goes against their design philosophy, in feeling like that's more the game playing you than you playing the game. You have a lot of tools available to you in the built in quest tracker and map to help you figure out where to go or who to return to, the idea is for you to engage with them and think about what you're doing instead of just checking a box. You may disagree with this approach, but I wouldn't expect it to change in this game, first because of the time and effort involved to add it at this point (with release just weeks away), and second because they've been pretty clear that's just not the kind of game they want to make.

There is a quest tracker, just not an arrow. A giant white arrow constantly visible would kind of annoy me , although I know there are players who would want this option.

Traders are usually concentrated in one place aside from Rookie Harbor, and in the remaining cases (RH included) they are in most preditable/logical places in the world.

Quest givers are also concentrated within their guild buildings, and those buildings have smol icons above doors, so it's a matter of 4 checks at worst, if you forgot every single one (can easily happen in Bergen when you just run around erratically).

But anything resembling the travesty in Bethesda's paid modding platforms -no, no no no. This game is nowhere big enough to give even an excuse for that. And I hate being treated by default like I had enough extra chromosomes to share with the whole family.

We have quest log, main quest is separately listed, there one clear main building in each city/hub where you need to go to advance the MQ.

The only thing a "3D" quest marker or compass/minimap with such achieves is that players stop noticing anything in the game besides the trail on minimap.

A marker on map wouldn't hurt. But not something I really insist should be in the game

I would not want that kind of quest tracker, but i'd definitely opt in for a better map.

I don't even see the point in using stamps, if the map has no detail other than showing an area outline.

I would actually agree with this. A little more detail on the map wouldn't hurt. I would even say, skip that and add a mini-map because that's how much detail we get at present. But that's about it. "A little." Nothing more.

However, this part I don't 100% agree with.

And actually, I've wanted to say something about this for a while now:
50 stamps isn't really even enough. Hear me out. Gaia's Garden, is HUGE. On top of this, there are those wave portal things, some jump pads that are cleverly hidden in shrubbery that are easy to miss, the normal smattering of caves you can't enter without meeting pre-conditions, AND a healthy handful of 'doorways' which do not appear on the map but can only be accessed by exploring and being creative. One of my recent play-throughs, I started to do a MASSIVE mark-up of all these little things, including spots with those 'half steps' in order to reach higher ground. Mainly because you can't even do full exploration without wave, and you might as well comb through it all twice. Well, that's what I wind up doing. Anyway, during that time, I RAN OUT of stamps half-way through, and had to play a triage game of "well, what do I REALLY need?" And even then, I still came out like 5 short. :( I was sad. What did make me happy however was the update that expanded how many different symbols were added.... some months ago.

I will also add that, the best and my favorite use of the stamps is to mark the places of boxes that I can't access on my initial pass, as well as caves and other barriers (think the ice wall in "Icy Cauldron" of Bergen trail). But I doubt I'm the only one who does that, not even close, otherwise there wouldn't have been a reason to add the other symbols. I would go so far as to say I enjoy charting the map with stamps. But at this point I'm talking in circles, since I just said a little more detail wouldn't hurt. Ah well.

That said, the reason I never said anything before is because, I'm perfectly willing to work within the limitations given. In fact it can be fun to do. I just thought since it was brought up I'd take an opportunity to share my experience, since I also enjoy that.

As a minor aside, if people want, I could probably create a jpg file with my mark-up, and I'll throw it in the Community guides section. I mean, some time after 1.0 comes.

Stamps?

I thought those were a collectable I was terrible at using. What are they actually for?

You can post the stamps onmap to post a path to a chest, or to show where a chest is.

Please no. Quest tracker, objective markers, detective vision, super detailed minimaps and the like are enough these days to turn me off any game. Games should be about adventure and exploration, not mindless busywork following an arrow and clearing a checklist.

It's not something that would hurt the game.

But it's not really needed (and in fact done to a certain degree already). There are far more important things that the devs are doing.

Like getting the game out.
