I hope Emilie dies a horrible death.
Go suck it with your racing.

That stupid time cheating hag making me rush through the puzzles and reloading when I take too long on one just so I can beat her. Taking away any fun of the dungeons.

I hope you burn in hell witch.

And yes all you Einsteins who tell me you beat her in every temple blind first try, just keep it to yourself.

Then don't race and do the dungeons at your own pace if the races are stressing you out? lol
Clarity Oct 16, 2018 @ 7:27pm
But the point of the races is to beat her. She's running them for the first time like you are so doing the races during NG+ or another run is like cheating. Plus she lords it over you after every race so saying to go at your own pace does not stop me from feeling like a failure when I finally get the timing down for the fire temple boss.

It's impossible. Only Apollo beateble.
Seraphita Oct 16, 2018 @ 8:59pm
That's just rude. She is cool and the best friend. And yes, I beat her on every temples except last one I believe because I was slow af on my puzzles. It's very easily beatable if you just do what you have to do and don't stop for chests. Plus yeah, you do NOT have to race. It's optional, k...?

Save before going in, take your time doing it, then reload and speedrun through it?

Yea that sounds like fun. Doing it twice. Thats great game design. I have an infinte amount of time at my disposal and there are no other games or hobbies that are as much fun as doing a dungeon twice in Cross code.
Is it an actual race? I thought it was just story dialogue and she wins no matter what.
Lugez Oct 16, 2018 @ 9:45pm
i didn't even know it was possible to beat her until the end game. after i lost the second time, i thought it was inevitable after that. i always took my sweet ass time, found chests, and even left the game on to go the kitchen and stuff. ah well.

i understand the argument for "just ignore it," but i think it's a bit....uncouth(?) for the game to even suggest that there's some kind of time restriction on these massive dungeons. it's easy to say just ignore it, but it's always gonna be something at the back of your mind when you're figuring out these elaborate puzzles, and no one likes the feeling of being rushed.

Honestly I just stumbled upon it by accident and now that I know it really bothers me. I loved the first dungeon. I took my time and really explored every nook I could find. The second dungeon was the one I actually tried to race her and because the timelimit is so steep (if you go in blind for the first time like I did) it makes no fun at all. You have 60 minutes for both levels, and if you fail the first you automatically lose the second. Second dungeon that is.

Instead of appreciating puzzles you get annoyed by em because you are not solving it fast enough. You have this urge to reload areas in which you did really bad and everytime you die in a combat puzzle you pull your hairs because its another minute wasted. Of course you save during the dungeon in regular intervalls (because you never know when you take too much time at a certain spot) but its still just reloading and playing the same thing again because it took you way too much time to figure out.

I mean you can do it, and it works, the game wont restrict you in that way, but honestly its not fun.
It just bothers you that its an actual race you can win, but the timelimit is so steep and if you fail (like I assume many of us do) it makes you feel stupid. If I wanted that feeling Id go out in the real world. No thanks

^ It essentially becomes a debate of whether it's your fault for putting so much stock into winning a race that doesn't matter in the slightest, or the game's fault for even suggesting the possibility to you and implanting it in your head.

For me personally, the small competitor in me was always thinking at the beginning "cmon bro hurry up and beat this puzzle so you can beat Emilie," and it wasn't really the most fun feeling. Or at least, it's not the feeling I was looking for when going through these sprawling dungeons.

If you like challenge in games this is an argument to be made. But the problem with "this"kind of challenge" is that you can easily overcome it by just savescumming every puzzle room (which is nothing but tedious) or you can run through the dungeon once at your leisure and then re do it again (which is nothing but tedious).

Unless you are a puzzle guy ( I am not ) that figures out most of these puzzles in a few seconds (that does not include the times when the puzzle was easy to understand but the aiming/controls made me do it multiple times) the time adds up really fast.

So you can either save-scum and beat her easily (that is not fun though, because its just reloading) or you can actually try to beat her blind/no help which makes the whole dungeon frustrating because you always have the timer in the back of your head. If you win, I assume its great, but more likely you will lose on your first try and then you just feel stupid. Also you will not enjoy the journey at all.

I know what you mean, after I found a timetable, I had two minutes left when I was finally able to beat the boss and win the second...third? race. I had to reload everytime I felt as if I was half a minute at one action because I didn'T made it pixel perfect.

This makes me kind of not wanting to go in the next one.

That was what I thought in the start to.

I will try to win at least one of the other dungeon races too, I just hope there aren't to many comments about how unimportant and stupid it is, wanting to win them just because it's not important to the people who say it. I'm only saying it because in a few other topics in other games I saw the people already being unnecessarily being mean

I thought the races were fun. I cheated, reloaded after figuring out the puzzles. Had a fun time doing it too. They aren't tuned for first time runs, they're more of a replay value thing. Completely optional, not a big deal one way or another.

I would love to have it be default Lea win myself, and only if you really suck you lose to her. But I enjoy having reasons to replay games too so whatever.

Agreed, I didn't expect it to be an actual race at first, so I wasn't trying to rush. By the second temple, I did attempt to race and found myself enjoying it less.

There's a conversation between Joern and Apollo later in the game where Joern says it was really nice to do a dungeon without Apollo rushing him, and I understand. Even if you're not the smartest person ever, there's something to be said about relaxing to a puzzle. The solutions you concoct in your head and executing your ideas, usually followed by error and more trial, can be fun and satisfying when you figure it out yourself.

Also the dungeons have nice music and it's a wonderful break from the fast action. In the end, it is still optional, but I would prefer a yes/no option to the races.

You have like an hour, maybe two i believe?

Holy damn, i've beaten her in every temple except the Krys'Kajo om every single try.

Plus she's a great character.
You just need more practice.
