Dungeon race timers
What are they? For the second dungeon, I literally made a save at the start of each room to give myself time to work out what do in the hopes that I wouldn't have to reload from the very start like I had to for the first dungeon, as well as skipping all the optional treasure chests, but nope, I still lost and now face having to redo the entire stupid thing to not be locked out of the trophy. It feels like the only way you can win is if you know more or less the exact path through from the beginning, and if you ever got lost or stuck or miss something and have to backtrack or explore for more than a few moments, there's no chance.

Had to redo the second level in the second dungeon (luckily it's just the second half), and yeah - once you know exactly what you have to do you can blaze through it in absolutely no time at all. Too bad I can't remember every little ♥♥♥♥ from when I played the EA version at the beginning of this year. :/

I am going to watch a video on youtube as I do it to make sure I clear everything fast enough on my first try, so I don't have to repeat dungeon.

While game is paused the race counter doesn't work, right? I know that game played time still runs.

Seen this recently, maybe keep an eye on it at least.

Thanks for that. Damn, I hope that's fixed asap if it really keeps going even during pause.

Well this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks, I wasn't aware of this being an actual race with an achievement and now I'm locked out of the achievement since I've already played past the ice dungeon which I lost. I really don't like these speedrun achievements in games since either they force you to rush through the game instead of taking it slow and you know, enjoy the game, or they force you to replay the damn game which you may not want to do.

it doesn't force you to though, it's just a virtual trophy, your enjoyment is more important.

I'm kind of in the same boat about dungeon races. For me, to win I need to:
1. ignore all chests
2. not look at the scenery
3. facetank all hits while attacking furiously because there's no time for guarding
4. not experiment the dungeon features throughly

also: being stuck at puzzles adds a second layer of stress

So I think that having these races kind of undermine the work that was put into the dungeon designs. Most players will want to win at least some of these races on their first playthrough (even without knowing of the achievements), so a lot of people could end up not really enjoying doing dungeons.

Just like some other player suggested, I'd like to see a way to "retry" the races, reverting to your stats on the first entry so you could do the first run slower and appreciate the place.

Well, I guess this can already be done by saving, running normally then loading redoing, though.

is it really that hard? I won during the EA and I wasn't even trying because I thought it would be scripted like the tutorial dungeon. Err I just noticed that sounds like bragging. but that's not what I mean. I really did take my time. I got lost, had a helluva time finding a pickaxe, didn't understand one puzzle for like half hour, etc.

Iirc during the EA there was a bug that meant you would win no matter what

You could save after every room, once you've done the room quickly enough. I personally just follow video guide while doing dungeons, which ruins the whole thing but I don't want to miss out on that trophy because I won't be replaying the game.

I just realised there's a trophy for these races, and I already lost the temple one lol.
I like to take my time and collect every chest sadly, really don't wanna race my first time through. Hope we'll have a way of trying again later on.

The achievments seem to be account based so it doesnt matter if you are late in the race. Just have a save before you entered the dungeon and come back to it after you have beaten the dungeon/ know what to expect (or whenever you feel like it.) The progress is saved regardless of the save file (at least that's how mine works.)

Do you only have to beat Emilie through the first 4 dungeons?

For the game trophy it seems that way, though you can still beat her in the tree as well.
