Fake reviews on metacritic
So i just noticed that there are a bunch of negative user reviews on metacritic. They all give a 0 metascore, with vague descriptions, and they came out on the same day (Oct 7). Also, crosscode is the only game those accounts reviewed (except one that also made an Octopath Traveler review). Like, why? Anyway, i thought it would be worth mentioning

From Metacritic user reviews :
"Crosscode is that kind of game, which is being shilled everywhere, yet when you play it whilst ignoring the overall shilling of it, you will realize how awful it actually is.
It, like almost every Indie game these days, has fast-paced combat, unoriginal design, and much more of that sort. Overall, it's a pretty inconsequential and generic game."

Daaaaaaaaaaaamn, that's harsh. Why would anyone do that ?
Most of the negative reviews are most likely from the same guy yeah, you're probably right OP. Always the same writing style, unless it's just a single word review.

Metacritics is mainly useful for big marketted products because it guarantees a big pool of people and reviewers. Smaller projects which had little to no marketting involved will suffer from it mostly. I can't trust this website for freshly released indie titles its simply not representative.

Looks like someone is salty that CrossCode isn't coming to Switch like Octopath did. That or we got an IGN reporter in the making because tutorial shooting was too hard.

EDIT: Don't just go to Metacritic and post "I'm leaving 10 to counterweight the trolls lolololo". Report button exists for a reason and it doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to decipher nine 0s within a small timeframe, when those zeroes are upped as helpful by those same accounts. Post what you really think about the game. Don't need to create Frank Herbert's "Dune" in the process if you don't want to.

If you go to meta critic for any reason besides to laugh, you need to remove your internet cable. Everyone knows mainstream review websites are all paid.

Hard to pay for thousands of user reviews when each review says something else, yet there are convergence clear points among reviews (in case you are worried about bots). I disregard "professional" reviews on Meta or anywhere else altogether, game journalism had long become a joke and I expect nothing of more substance than "Cuphead TUTORIAL is the DARK SOULS of platforming 0/10" or "IT makes you FEEL like Batman 10/10".

But I certainly squeezed out some interesting info from user reviews for multiple games. And I moderately trust user score when the sample size is big enough and dozens of reviews I dug through are sensible.

Now gimme my internet cable back, dad!

I very much agree with you, i was mostly just curious why someone would hate on this game so much to go out of their way to do this, it's not like this is some ultra popular release with lots of media attention.

lol professional reviews ... its on steam not better. when i read sometimes reviews and seing that the reviewer didnt even spend 5 minutes in the game am i like facepawing myself and asking myself how valve would leave a review like that up and not just deleting it. steam has a "how long you played the game" tracker they could just simply raise the refund limit to like 5 hours and then restricting the ability to atleast play the game for 30 minutes or even an hour to even write a review. that would help reviews on steam a lot. i dont think a troll reviewer would leave a game open for an entire hour just to write a review, furthermore needs the account to own the game if you want to make a review ...

not only metacritic is everynowandthen a black sheep. just look about the sonic mania ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ because of its copy protection with those stupid rumors that it kills ya PC and all the weird stuff.

reviews like that could be easily avoided if valve would finally add a "you must have played the game x minutes to write a review" restriction =w=

The issue with that is that some games, like this game, can be played directly from the exe. No need to launch through steam. Of course that makes the hours not count

Metacritic = people being like. "Okay, we're paid to do negative reviews... Let's get to it, I guess."
dustin1280 Oct 8, 2018 @ 7:32am
With the exception of one reviewer who gave it a zero, the rest have no reviews on the site at all and are very non descriptive. Wish we could report them in some way.

You can. But you need an acc for that.

From the spelling I wouldn't bet on bots but more like one user creating multiple accounts. Maybe a person who got banned here and is searching for a way to troll? I don't know.

I see, well anyone in this topic that has a metacritic account, mind reporting the obvious spam hate?

I think I saw this guy in 4chan's /v/ thread, or at least someone with the same talking points. He claimed that the game is tanking on metacritic (it was very positive when I checked). Maybe he wanted to prove it by... Shilling?

IVchan, what's up with that filter.
