Guard Sphere/Blade Sphere is far too strong.
These two abilities, paired with avenger and pin body are absolutely busted in every combat situation. Even the almighty Laser of Doom is unable to damage a player using these abilities, and it actually aided in keeping the special bar filled due to the high damage being blocked. I've decided to remove these abilities from my tree as I can literally block/return all damage for an indefinite period of time. As much as I love rigging as a tank, this is just too much. I need a challenge to enjoy combat.

These need to see a nerf of some kind. Either they need to stop blocking everything or break at some threshold.

He did say he switched his tree away from them.

I do have to agree, though, being able to completely nullify all damage from any direction with just 1 SP before you even get to Rookie Harbor is kind of broken and trivializes things like Apollo's duels much harder than the guaranteed perfect guards in fire/ice ever did.

Not to mention that I'm pretty sure the Laser of Doom is supposed to be a one-hit-kill so having it be blockable sounds like it's a straight up bug.

Heck, I actually farmed a few levels out of those high level guards too. The area near the trader had enough of them to get a level per fight. After fighting, I just ran into the trading room and ended combat.

I never actually used any defensive combo so that's why I questioned it. Hell I always find myself struggling in duels, Especially that one against.. well let's just say not Apollo.

Unforchantly these problems are bound to rise because of no cooldowns not imposed on skills, If guard sphere had a CD of 15+ seconds around or something then it'd probably be fine.

While i agree it deserves a hard nerf for sure, It helps-..."Worser players" to get through the game if they need and choose to abuse it.

Plus most bosses tech have a perma guard sphere unless in broken state so its sorta fair :steammocking:

The synergy of Shield-Arts with the "Avenger"-mod and the resulting easy SP-recovery was an unintended oversight that will be removed in some future patch. That should already turn down the OPness a bit, considering you won't be able to easily recover the SP that you used anymore.
Also, killing the Deathlaser with PinBody (and also causing a softlock in certain situations..) was also not intended and already got fixed internally.

The other potential balance-issues are something we need to test a bit more ourselves. Overpowered combinations aren't THAT big of a deal in CrossCode, with it being a single-player game and all, especially when it is the result of players being creative and actively engaging with the mechanics.
But of course, if it becomes too broken and easy to use, we gotta apply some changes. We don't want it to trivialize all those fights that are meant to be challenging, after all. D;

I am completely satisfied with this response. As you said, it is a single player game, and it's not a huge issue if certain powers are abusable to some extent. (Morrowind is a favorite of mine, so being mad about abusing special powers would make me a hypocrite.) Thanks for understanding my position! Have a good day!

Now that it's been said, I feel like I have to try this combo before it gets patched. I've beaten the game and am at max level, so I'm already overpowered. I wanna see how much broken nonsense ultra god power I can get!

I wanna kill that doom laser before I can't anymore!

The laser doesn't trigger pin body effects anymore. It was already patched and I spent plenty of time under it without seeing a dent on the thing.

Is it supposed to negate damage? I tended to stop using those arts since I saw I took damage while using it anyway :S

No, but it reduces a ton of damage, so with these exploits if you have regeneration you can basically live forever AND get the SP for the skill back so you can keep using it forever

I prefer perfect guard skills over auras though. Perfect guard counters are the best

Wait are you sure? I was taking 0 damage with Guard Sphere up from the final boss. And the giant laser. Unless it scales off of defense or something maybe?

I think it adds/multiplies your defense/elemental resistances or something. Because early in the game you still take damage while using it, but less damage than normally.
