CrossCode

Switch pro controller
So steam recently added switch pro controller support and I thought I'd give Crosscode a go with a controller to see how different it was. Instead Lea seems to have a mind of her own with the controller enabled. Something is always scrolling up or down in the menus and making her run in either direction when she isn't sitting still blocking on her own. Anyone else have a switch controller and want to see if this happens for you as well? I've never used any other gamepads with crosscode so I don't know if this is common.

Also its not my controller or steam's settings because without changing a thing I've opened and played Dark souls 3, Momodora, Shantae HGH and Axiom Verge without any issues or the controller inputting things on its own like what's happening here.

Controller mapping is handled by NW.js which is the software we're using to run CrossCode.
Issues are pretty mich always due to a lacking implementing of the HTML5 gamepad API standard, which doesn't work with your particular OS/hardware/drivers.

We don't have the resources/expertise to fix these issues in NW.js ourselves. All we can do is updating NW.js and hope that it changes things. You can do this manually using these instructions:

You can also try never versions of NW.js or try installing different drivers/changing settings which sometimes helps.

Other than that, we can't fix things, sorry. It really doesn't matter that it works fine on other games. It's because they're based on a different technology stack. It's a downside of HTML5/NW.js but we can't fix it and also can't change our technology stack.

I followed that update and got the newest version of the nw just to see and while the game is running at a higher framerate the controller still acts the same. I'll see if I can find a workaround, I'm not used to the steam controller settings. I'm not even sure Gyro is off. Thank you for replying

There is one option, Mayflash makes a USB hardware encoder which will convert inputs from your controller for use with PC. You can use Switch pro controllers, Playstation controllers, and Wii U controllers, and they will be converted to either D input or X input at your choosing. You can use bluetooth for wireless or hook up directly to the other end of it with a cable. On top of this, if you own a Switch you can use it on the Switch to hook up Playstation, Xbox, or Wii U controllers. Very versatile.

I forgot, 8bitdo also has something like this, does the same stuff, just that it's wireless only. As an aside, this one's 'probably' better if you're playing on a Mac.

I actually have the 8bitdo one but it drops inputs often. I'd rather use the controller wired to pc. Looks like I'd have to use something to convert the signal to xinput and trick steam into thinking its a 360 controller.

There are probably a few software encoders out there, but my experience with them hasn't been great either. Honestly if you're set on wired, you can get a XB1 controller from Amazon for $40 and its compatibility is fantastic. Windows will automatically convert the inputs to 360 for anything that doesn't recognize One and you can get a great piece of software for Mac that does the same thing in a mouse click.
