Seems to me that Emile is just one of those people who's just not good at those observational skills in general, always having a hard time with second-order logical conclusions.
Pretty flimsy excuse, if you ask me. Schneider is a "literally who" character as far as I'm concerned. He's just a guy-friend. No true love potential there.
Ironic that her name was ALSO Emily, just with a slightly different spelling.......and now that I think of it, Lena is only one letter up from Lea, so...... the coincidence might be REALLY strong.

I am actually more with you in general. Fun to speculate/fantasize about, but outside of that, personally, I don't think it would add anything to the game, nor would it change how I feel about the characters, whichever way the story goes.
I feel like, romance in video games is really hard to pull off effectively, hence why it's not done very much, if at all. I guess it depends on the type of game, just as it does for movies. CrossCode isn't a very cinematic game, whereas let's say, Life is Strange, is very cinematic. So for the former, it's really hard to get a romantic moment to glow or seem magical, and in the latter, they can get away with liberal bloom effects and that charismatic guitar music to set the mood and help the moment grow. Just as one example.
Games don't have to be cinematic to do a cute little couple at the end, though. Check out Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt. That game is dead-simple and it does romance within its extremely narrow scope.
Also true, 'cute' is a nice touch and that moment on top of Faj'ro was certainly heartwarming.
