Magick is probably my least favorite. Her moments of vulnerability aside, she's nowhere near effective or helpful enough to earn her condescending snark.
considering her origin being selfish and pushing people away seems right on the spot and in her most people would be that way in her situation. If there is one character i find childish its caretaker.
Also Bruce feels a bit uptight, but there is not enough character content to be able to say for sure.
A contrivance that only exists to give her something to do. Strange has been The Portal Guy in Marvel for over a decade at this point. It was even his main role in the X-Men vs. Avengers crossover wherein Magick was one of the villains.
I don't mind them taking a nerf bat to him; it's tough to write a compelling team story about magic when one of your character's main traits is being the undisputed best at magic. But if it meant having a mode of transport that didn't constantly ♥♥♥♥♥ about being a mode of transport (and also everything else), I'd rather Strange pull portal duty while Magick put a bit more effort in making the glam goth thing work for her.
that's the thing, Magik doesn't use magic, and Lilith is affecting the magic. I mean sure they could write it differently so Magik isn't useful, but they could also write it differently so portals isn't needed at all. The way they wrote it is the story they made, there is always gonna be things you can rewrite to change the concept of a story. But in this case Magik is one of the most valuable team members
That's all true. Still, I'm not inclined to give her a pass for her attitude when she so openly begrudges her core contribution. When you're the least agreeable member of a team that includes Wolverine, Tony Stark, and Blade, you got issues.
A close second is Bruce Banner.
Honestly no other person had my Hunter's back like Magik did during the story.
Worth noting while Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth, Magik is actually the Sorceress Supreme of Limbo. She's more powerful than he is, given that she also has mutant powers on top of her skill with magic. In fact, in New Mutants #25, Magik draws Doctor Strange to Limbo and utterly crushes him.
This game really downplays her skill with sorcery, which is understandable since half the cast has some level of magical skill and a bunch of spellslingers wouldn't be very diverse.
I don't think Magik is the Sorcerer Supreme of Limbo in this game. At the very least, it's not mentioned in any of the dialogue.
Edit: also, I'm pretty sure the fight you mentioned happened in X-Men vs Avengers. Could be wrong, but I'm looking up New Mutants 25 and Strange isn't listed as a character in it; the comic seems to be used as an argument by Screenrant to justify the outcome of their earlier fight.
Strange was not Sorcerer Supreme of Earth at the time of the fight. Iirc he got the title back in New Avengers 34, which came out 1 month after the crossover event happened. So Strange picked a fight with a SS on her own turf when he was a normal sorcerer. As she points out, this was really stupid of him. He deserved that L, but he wasn't at his best.
this is more a statement of who she is in marvel in general, not specific to this game
Loved Blade, Nico and Cpt Marvel characters. Nico mainly because she was done well Emo/Goth wise.
