Securing 3 stars for missions
Is there anything that lets you know how many moves the mission will need to be finished in to receive the full 3 stars at the end? I see it shows post mission when it's tallying up all your reward points but anyway to see that turn limit before or during the fight?

It varies since it's based on total score, and there are more things than just turns that push up your score. My experience was that it raising the difficulty, especially once you max it, makes getting 3-stars easier.

Of course, since all that does is gives you more gloss which you can also get just by running more missions between story missions, it's not really that big of deal.

it would be nice if we got a better idea of what the criteria are. even if its after a mission in the summary to get a better feel. even when it tallies up the result...it still doesn't say how many rounds were the target for 3 stars. it only lists the amount of turns it took you to complete it. i just try to beat the objectives in 2 rounds at most with maybe clearing additional enemies in round 3. as long as no hero goes down it should be good enough.

also on higher difficulties you get more hero XP. since Champion levels are infinite, as well as friendship levels after 5, it means that those gains on higher difficulties are still worth it. those HP/Offense boosts from each champion level adds up to the point even Ultimate 3 becomes a cake walk in due time.

I stopped worrying about the star rating. At first I was aggrivated that I had a hard time getting more than 1 or 2 stars on anything other than story and challenge missions, but once it sank in that I was only losing 25 or so gloss, I didn't care any more.

not worrying is one way to approach it if you only care about story progression. but i don't play games for stories. stories in games are just a means to get you from A to B. if i wanted a story i read books. the medium of gaming offers something different...which is gameplay and actually playing a game and getting a challenge.

I'm glad to be done with the campaign and socialising...now i can actually play the game and it is quite fun all of a sudden. so i took the star ratings as a challenge to learn more about the mechanics, gameplay and get better at the game to the point I could get 3* reliably. it is the difference between intriinsic and extrinsic motivation.

I wasn't knocking you at all for wanting to understand how to get the best star rating! This IS a heavily story based game, but by all means do whatever you will to achieve your goals and have fun.

I totally disagree though that star rating has any bearing on gameplay. It changes nothing, beyond a bit of gloss and the challenges we impose on ourselves. The game plays out the same either way.

I feel the same way about achievements in games... I've known people who refuse to even play excellent games if there are no achievements, stating "what's the point?"

nowhere do i say star rating has impact on story. i say that if story is the only thing you care about then star rating doesn't matter. and achievements are worthless garbage. never understood people who want them. personally I just play and get them along the way. I rather see games getting rid of achievements instead of adding more.

Fair enough, I'll have to work on my reading comprehension.

They should show which requierements are needed to reach 3 stars

to get 3 starts you need 80 gloss score,

you get +40 if a villain enters
you get -10 for each KO on your heroes
you get +40 if you finish within a set amount of rounds, goes down by 10 for each round after the threshold (usually the threshold is 3 rounds sometimes 4 depending on the mission type)
you get +40 for completion

and then apply difficulty bonus, it does not affect star rating, just the amount gloss you get
